Quinta Bela Sao Tiago

Would recommend staying in this location, close to the old town. Pool area very peaceful, nice garden. Great views from rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only improvements I would make would be better coffee and proper orange juice at breakfast!

This hotel is everything and more than we expected. The views and the great location in the old town, the professional staff and the beauty of the well-kept property will see us coming back.

The location is great. 5 - 10 minute walk from the old town with lots of restaurants and cafes. A couple of minutes from cliffs looking onto the water with a nice bar / cafe with outdoor seating. The staff at the hotel itself were very friendly and helpful with all aspects of our stay - organising guided levada walks, taxis and banana jam that my wife developed a penchant for. The views from the hotel out to sea are panoramic and they have beautiful gardens as well. Didn't get to use the swimming pool as it's outdoors and it wasn't warm enough, but there is also a sauna and spa. Two very minor things that could be improved. 1. The air conditioning was centrally controlled, so you could only have it on (at 18 degrees) or off. 2. The PC with internet they provide was extremely slow, therefore difficult to use to look up restaurants and other places of interest nearby. All in all though, a lovely base for a stay in Funchal / Madeira

Our second trip to Madeira after gp of ten years,stayed on Lido last time,so to find this jewel was a great find.Located at back of Old Town,and very closee to town,and all the great restaurants and bars.Found an excellent friendly little bar at bottom of hill to Hotel,helped with the walk up hill. Staff at Bella Tiago are the best in the business,none of the big hotel treatment,more of a private hotel where service comes first.Receptionists Natasha and Carla,absolute goldmines if you need and information on area. Roms claen and comfortable,breakfast all you can eat,and great selection of hot and cold foods. One downside pool is not heated,but has great views across whole of bay. We loved it and would not consider Lido area after finding this grat hotel so near to town.
