Alma San Diego Downtown, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Man, this place was such a disappointment. The staff (which were few and far between - WAY understaffed) and the bed were the only redeemable qualities from our stay. They were all very nice, helpful, and respectful. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to make up for the quality of the building itself. I don't think there was a single corner of the wall or piece of furniture that wasn't scratched, dented, or chipped. Every surface was dusty. The toilet paper was rough and cheap. The sink backed up. You could hear people next door or on other floors through the walls and the pipes. The blackout curtains couldn't keep the neon light out of the room. I've stayed in all sorts of places from hostels to Airbnbs to resorts. This spot just isn't worth what they charge.

- Ficamos hospedadas no 20o andar. É possível ouvir todo barulho externo (rua, conversas na rua, buzinas, alarmes de carro durante toda a noite). Impossível ter uma noite tranquila. Impossível dormir num ambiente com tanto ruído. A região do hotel (inclusive calçada em frente) é extremamente suja, com péssimo odor de urina e fezes. O serviço de valet não funciona conforme anunciado. Recebemos um cartão com QR code para pedir o carro com antecedencia. Nas 3 vezes que precisamos do carro, o QR code nao funcionou e esperamos por 15-20 minutos na calçada. O café da manhã tem somente 2 funcionarios para atender 2 salões repletos. Esperamos 40 minutos por um café e pão com ovos fritos e bacon.

Barulho, Atendimento. Limpeza. Esse hotel precisa urgentemente de uma reestruturação. É tudo MUITO MUITO ruim. Péssimo na verdade.

Great hotel with wonderful staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and Elli our server was great and had good dining tips. Gabriel at the bar went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience, and Ericka at the bar gave us great travel tips. Susi, Lena, and Sophia at the front desk were polite and helpful, too.

Le personnel à l’accueil était peu qualifié, peu agréable et dans l’incapacité de répondre à nos questions et d’aider à résoudre les problèmes liés à la réservation. Nous avons notamment été chargé 2 fois pour la même réservation (2000$ x 2) et chargé de 1500$ pour security deposit. Attention le petit déjeuner est inclus mais nous dépassons quand meme très facilement le montant offert par l’hôtel

I was in PR for a wedding and since I stayed at this hotel in San Diego before I knew I had to stay here. The location is great. You can access the shops restaurants all within a minimum of a 10 min walk. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
