Cathedral Quarter Hotel - Derby

Won’t be back and won’t be missed , minimal interest shown by staff and lack of investment probably means one visit guests are likely to make.

Very run down but good enough to get my head down for work close by the following day.

Very quiet and comfortable

Asked for photo ID when I checked my brother in at 8pm as it was 'company policy'. He didn't have any but I did, but otherwise they would presumably not have honoured the booking. No one on reception to check out at 8:30am, no response to bell, no one in restaurant, my brother waited 15 mins then gave up leaving key on desk with a note.

Reception staff were helpful, the room was clean and comfortable -however you need to put the wifi code in the room for easy access. At breakfast I asked the staff about whether the bacon was smoked or nor not and I was assured it wasn't, however it was and -very disappointing. Staff should know about the food they serve especially after all the news lately abut allergies etc.

The building itself is a little bit tired but the staff are brilliant and made the whole stay very easy and pleasant. I was there for two nights and it seemed like nothing was too much trouble.

Paper thin walls, could hear EVERYTHING!! Breakfast was nice

Staff were excellent very attentive . Room was surprisingly quiet . Breakfast was a little disappointing - eggs were a bit undercooked & mushrooms and plate was cold. But server did check & offer to cook more eggs.

I would suggest that this is a hotel in transition. It needs a lot of work done to bring it up to scratch (plaster coming off the walls, light bulbs missing etc) however the staff are fabulous, the breakfast very good, the rooms clean enough and the bed was very comfortable. All in all my new go to in Derby
