"Dated but did us for 2 nights"

8.0

The location is out of town on a hillside overlooking a bay so bear in mind you need a car. Nice setting. The hotel is a bit dated in many ways. Our window was sealed up, no idea why - particularly when you read the fire evacuation plan on the door. The bathroom was a little tight, dated and fun trying to work out how the taps and shower worked. There is a coffee machine and a kettle. Sadly the coffee they use was vile, tasted of chemicals and went straight down the sink! Two staff to mention, Henri who was great taking care of our bags on arrival, and bringing us fresh towels when Housekeeping took ours away and didn't replace. Also Ting the waitress in Churchills. Makes a great milky coffee! Really appreciated that!! Note to other guests - the corridors echo so please keep the noise down. Many people have had long journeys so to be repeatedly distubed by other guests knocking on their friends' doors, having loud conversations either in person or by phone, are not necessary. Also go outside at night and see the sunset (stand in the garden by the empty and messy swimming pool) and look back to the hotel. The quilts in the dining room are amazing! Hotel needs a lot of work doing, the staff are it's real asset!

"Classy historical resort"

8.0

Late 1800’s resort in great condition, where no question in its day would have been a very high class resort. Very close to the St. John NB ferry terminal. Very comfortable king bed and great staff. Needs a bit of maintenance work and fixture updating. Upscale complimentary breakfast.

"Mid-Winter Anniversary Getaway"

10.0

We just spent 3 nights at the Digby Pines, just a few minutes off Highway 101 and through the town of Digby. We've stayed there a couple of times before and just want to do a shout out to the staff. Especially Rexon who initially checked us in and made sure that our wedding anniversary was extra special. His attention to detail, ensuring our comfort was most endearing. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The shower water was hot. The light from the heat pump is a bit annoying but fine with a sleep eye mask. The dining room with breakfast included was a bonus and the evening meal was superb. Order the Digby scallops, best ever! Our waitresses were professional and personable. A couple of nearby trails were fun to explore: The Van Tassel Lake Trail ( 3.5 km.) and the Acacia Valley Trail (bit more of a challenge with all of the snow, 4 km.) Grateful they are open year round and that there are upgrades happening. Would definitely stay again.

"Wonderful service in a winter wonderland"

10.0

This was a February ladies getaway for 6 retired friends and it was a winter wonderland! While the accommodations need upgrading, the staff do not. They are 5 star and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and more. Having the closed-in porch to gather in and share many laughs was so wonderful…and not something we would enjoy everywhere. The afternoon hot chocolate was a thoughtful surprise and much appreciated. Service in the dining room was attentive and friendly. We were not looking forward to digging out from the snowstorm today…and we didn’t have to, again thanks to the wonderful people who work at the Pines. We have already booked our next visit.
