"The pictures are worth 10 words"

6.0

The pictures give you an expectation that does not come through. You can tell it's a struggling bygone era destination hotel desperately in need of restoration. Not renovation, restoration. The breakfast is similar to any Days Inn and the rooms are very dated with thoughtless additions that don't match the story of the place. The little touches are missing. Paper cups in your room. Cooling and heating piping just laying on the floor in the dining room exposed. A lack of sophistication for the finishing touches. The reception desk attendant was just sitting with his head down on the phone not even paying attention when people go by. It gets you in but it's not a place that gives you an experience you want to come back for and that's the lifeblood of a resort hotel. The staff need professional hotelier training. But they can only go with what they've got and if an investor was brave enough to drop $15-20 million, it could be a sought out destination rather than a place to hang your hat. I paid $200 so there's a problem there. I'd this place was up to par with I would gladly pay $450.

"Very disappointing stay - Not worth revisiting"

2.0

Our recent stay at Digby Pines Resort was extremely disappointing. Despite being promised that there would be no additional charge for a late check-out, we were still billed extra without any prior notice. The room we were given was unclean, and the toilet didn’t work properly throughout our stay. The sofa bed was old, uncomfortable, and creaky. To make things worse, there was a loud noise every time guests in the neighbouring rooms shut their doors, making it difficult to rest or relax. The swimming pool was outdated and poorly maintained, far from what you’d expect at a resort of this reputation. There also seemed to be poor communication between the reservation team and the hotel management, which led to unnecessary delays during check-in. The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. There were hardly any vegetarian options on the menu, and the staff were not flexible or accommodating with meal requests. Overall, the stay didn’t live up to expectations in any aspect. For the price charged, the quality of service, amenities, and overall comfort were far below acceptable standards. We definitely won’t be revisiting this resort in the future. Very disappointed.

"Bit of a mixed experience"

6.0

Bit of a mixed view on our stay. Starting with the positives, the building is impressive and nice lounge to sit in to have drinks and friendly bar staff. We had a good meal in the restaurant and also found the breakfast to be really enjoyable (one of the best on our trip particularly for choices available) and servers looked after us. We slept well and generally little noise. In terms of the negatives the swimming pool was so cold, I think they had a problem with the heating when we tried it which was frustrating. A few things in the room could have been better for example it looked like there were runners for net curtains or blinds but nothing on them so if we opened our curtains any passer by could look in to our room giving us little privacy unless we kept curtains shut. Our bill was a bit of a muddle and on checking out it took time to sort it out when we really wanted to get on our travels. It seemed as though I had a better understanding of what had happened to the bill than the reception team although to be fair they got there in the end. As I say a bit mixed and but for the couple of issues I would have rated the hotel higher so maybe on another few days we would have had a better experience.
