The Arco powered by Sonder

It was a really nice and airy room with great high ceilings. Quite large bathroom for this kind of room. The location was good and also nice to see a different side of Philly.

I hade the room high up in the corner and the windows didnt help at all for music. One of the evenings there was a party in the street which sounded so loud it was hard to sleep. They even hand out earplugs which is good but didnt help. Rest of the evenings it was better. Changing windows would really improve the room. Bath was a bit worn but still nice and with a large window.

Das Zimmer war geräumig und hatte einen wirklich großen Fernseher. In diesem Hotel gibt es keine Rezeption, man muss über die "Sonder"-App einchecken. Das funktioniert tadellos, in der App gibt es auch einen Chat, der wirklich rasch reagiert und für weitere Fragen auch eine Kontakttelefonnummer. Das hat gut geklappt. Es gibt eine Lobby mit Getränke-Automaten und kostenlosem Kaffee/Tee, auch sehr nett! Auch am Zimmer hatten wir eine Kaffeemaschine inklusive Kapseln. Außerdem gibt es auch eine Gepäckaufbewahrung, die (mit begrenzten Kapazitäten) auch eine frühere Anreise bzw. spätere Abreise ermöglichen. Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum, ca. 10 Minuten Fußmarsch zur City Hall, in unmittelbarer Umgebung gibt es zahlreiche Lokale, es war auch wirklich viel los in der Gegend. Zur Independence Hall geht man zu Fuß 15 Minuten. Gut erreichbar mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, die Subway ist quasi im Keller. Das Klimagerät (außen an der Wand) war sehr laut und wurde offenbar bereits zuvor als Problem erkannt, es wurden am Bett bereits Ohrenstöpsel bereit gestellt :-). Damit ging es auch ganz gut!

Ich persönlich schätze Hotels mit "echtem" Personal, also einer Rezeption, wo ich mich an Menschen wenden kann. Es funktioniert zwar auch so alles bestens, aber Menschen an einer Rezeption sind in den allermeisten Fällen eine Bereicherung für ein Hotel. Das schmälert nicht die Leistung des Hotels an sich - aber mir ist es eben sympathischer.

Very friendly staff that we met, although you don't normally see anyone as everything is self-run. They do have 6 lockers (4 small ones and 2 for big suitcases). We did get them for our suitcase before check in.

Summary: AVOID unless you like being ripped off. Fully paid on expedia months beforehand, this crooked dodgy company has illegally overcharged ON an additional 3 separate occasions!! Nightmare to get refund for illegal charges, verging on 4 weeks of back and forth. Full details: booking was fully paid months beforehand. Youre then pestered to “register” with sonder and provide a payment card for security purposes. After this “registration” my payment card was mysteriously charged the same amount as the accommodation costs (which i already fully paid a month earlier in expedia!). I contact sonder (also to be known as “scamder”) to query and complain only to be dismissed “we dont see any issues with your booking” - finally after 2.5 weeks later when i start asking my credit company to reverse the charges suddenly they “care” and actually investigate. The result - What a shock - I've been double charged. They FINALLY refund this. Then…two days later Ive been charged AGAIN. And..then another day after ANOTHER (third) charge thats currently pending. As i write this review im still trying to get my money back for these further duplicative (and triplicative?) illegal fraudulent scam charges. This crooked criminal company counts and relies on people not noticing all these charges amongst all their other costs and seeks to double and tripled charge to scam and rip you off and defraud you (and hope you dont notice). And then when you notice the scam and fraud taking place, first they tell you theres no issue and then drag their feet. AVOID THIS CROOKED CORRUPT SCAM FRAUD HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. How Marriot is aligned with with company is worrying as it will destroy their brand reputation. This whole debacle and scam has taken around 1 month of back and forth when i should be enjoying my holiday. Not to mention all these fraudulent scam debits against my account means ive been without my money for a period od time and refunds take time to process back too. The icing on the cake on how Ive been screwed and ripped off? When theyve processed the refunds for their scam fraudulent charges the exchange has moved (im Australian) so ive even lost money - you literally cannot script this stuff.

Great location and the building/style is great. Easy check in.

Our bathroom door didn't close fully and the air con was a little loud. They do give ear plugs in the room which were good.

Spacious room and bathroom, very central location, very clean, coffee maker and mini fridge, iron, hairdryer
