Great hotel in the centre of Funchal, close to the restaurants and bars. Great breakfast cooked fresh, roof top pool area fantastic, all the staff so helpful. Read the issues with the lights before my stay, not too hard to work out its written on the switch which areas it controls. Maybe could do with a little more light in the lift though, not being able to see the buttons for which floor easily when the doors close is not great.

The hotel is very nice and in a great location! The only thing that was a bit of a negative was the lack of hangers in the bathroom for towels etc which made it difficult to dry stuff. Other than that, a top hotel with super friendly stuff.

Luxurious hotel & excellent location to the city. We loved everything… comfy beds, lovely rainfall shower, fantastic breakfast & amazing roof views!

This hotel was in a central location, so good for access to town and tourist facilities. We had a deluxe superior room, not sure what standard rooms are like but ours was pretty ordinary, I’ve had bigger at Premier Inn. The bed was comfortable and facilities clean (which is the basic you would expect) but it was over designed and lacked practicality, Even a couple married for 47 years prefer a little discretion when going to the toilet and the darkened glass panels did not give that, the washbasin was in the room and was a long rectangular affair with tap one end and drain the other. There was nowhere to hang towels to dry so we ended up having to change ours each day which is a waste. As mentioned in other comments everything was dark. There was a light switch panel by each side of the bed, but if you needed to get up in the night, you could easily hit the wrong tiny switch and turn on the bed overhead light and wake your partner, my husband used his phone torch to get to the toilet. There is a lovely rooftop pool with a few loungers and plenty of seating, there is a sauna and jacuzzi, but we were told by reception that it was closed on Mondays (our check in day) for cleaning, so we went to use it on the Tuesday and were told we were misinformed as it was closed for cleaning, we didn’t try again. The staff were very nice and polite, breakfast had many options and the freshly squeezed orange juice machine was great. However the quality of the food was very ordinary and disappointing. So all in all, nothing wrong and we enjoyed our stay but it didn’t live up to expectations considering the amount we paid.

Lovely stay with a beautiful rooftop pool. I stayed here for the half marathon race and loved the cooler outside my room and refillable glass water bottle. Location is safe and walkable. To many restaurants and attractions in the city. Would certainly stay here again.

Well, lets start with all the positive and wonderfull aspects of „The Vine“ in Funchal: - Amazing breakfast, top quality food and beverages - Outstanding rooftop bar - THE MOST AMAZING VIEW over Funchal at night - Very helpfull and competent staff at the reception - Functional and stylish rooms And now the list of items where they can improve:

Like: Perfect location. Free parking. Rooftop swimming pool. Beautiful breakfast. Water machine on each floor. Rooms cleaned daily. Fridge in room. Dislike: jacuzzi not very clean and tiles coming off. Water pressure too low. Restaurant quite pricey. No bedside tables. Not enough electric sockets. Overall it's a lovely hotel in a perfect location with all amenities and restaurants within walking distance.

Great location, fabulous breakfast, well trained staff with excellent customer service.
