A nice hotel which is as it says is big on design and for sure the design of the hotel interior and rooms is different to most hotels you might stay in. + + the design experience + well maintained + excellent housekeeping + good sized rooms + roof terrace and pool + friendly staff + great location Do stay if you want a different stay experience and appreciate unusual design. Want easy access to the old town. - - design does lead to some impracticality - check-in payment process (don’t get conned into poor exchange rates!) - poorly managed breakfast buffet - noise from roads can be annoying at night Don’t stay if design impracticality puts you off, for instance: light in the hotel is limited, working out how to turn on/off lights is a challenge, bathroom towel rack won’t sit flat on the pebble floor. Buffet breakfast offers a large choice, particularly the hot food and is good quality but unfortunately it’s very poorly managed. All the food goes out for 7:30 and rather than manage the quantities during the service by last sittings the food dries out or goes cold it’s a real shame. Put less food out and refresh during the service then you would have a great breakfast offer

We loved our stay here! The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Funchal. For me the best part of the hotel is the rooftop pool and bar. With it being January it wasn’t quite warm enough (for me) to use the pool, but the cocktails were amazing and the food was great quality too. Our room was huge with a great view of the city. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel as we like try the different brunch spots around town. I would definitely recommend this hotel, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited over the Christmas Period and enjoyed the Hotel facilities Breaks fast was taken inside for a couple of mornings but we venture out one morning when the weather was brighter, the food selection was ideal and as we were on holiday, the Sparking Wine had to be sampled The Roof Terrace was closed on our first night but the the following 3 nights were able to enjoy the happy and and returned after dinner for a night cap The location is ideal being attached to a shopping centre. On a couple of nights we did hear the revellers retuning home at 4 in the morning but the hotel cannot be held responsible for that It was a shame we did not stay for the fire works on New Years Eve as it would be the perfect location We are noticing many visitors from the USA finding the Hotel and they seem to want the hotel to change to "their" requirements, I hope Management do not change too much as the quirky European feel makes this Hotel We will be back

Very nicely designed hotel in a fantastic location. Breakfast buffet also very good - the best scrambled eggs on a buffet ever!

Stayed for a week on B&B over Christmas. Good points… central location near to lots of good restaurants etc, really lovely staff, very clean everywhere, you could sit inside or outside at breakfast- your choice, lovely fresh orange juice from the juicer machine. Fantastic terrace with a small pool & beautiful views. Also enjoyed happy hour up there from 6-7. Not so good points… the hot buffet was by the open door and was very lukewarm ( my husband tried it and was very unimpressed) everywhere is ridiculously dark and dimly lit, no idea why?! The central location had a down side- noise! 23rd Dec in particular was horrendous! Shouting until gone 4am, we were told it was a festival or something and it was better after that initial first bad night. Overall we had a lovely week but if we were to return to Funchal we’d probably choose somewhere quieter and lighter/brighter.

Fabulous hotel with great decor and comfort. Loved the breakfast robot-helper, the friendly totally-non-robot staff and the location.

We have lost count of the number of times we have stayed at The Vine, and so it obviously fits our needs. Great hotel, great location, great staff.

First time in European country. And this hotel was great especially the staff. Location in perfect in mall attached below. Nested right in the heart of Madeira.

Great location in the center of town. Very professional and friendly staff. Great amenities such as indoor spa, heated rooftop pool with great views and bar.
