Hotel Segovia Sierra de Guadarrama

While the hotel seems welcoming enough and well laid out the service leaves a great deal to be desired. Arriving after a long days travel we found the staff less than helpful,were referred to a next door bar for a refreshing drink with out access to the garden as it was booked for an evening private function. Not a problem if the hotel bar / lounge was available but no. As it was a rather warm day we looked forward to air conditioned comfort but alas it had been turned off for Autumn, staff suggested we open a window. After dining, a nightcap was in order, but once again the bar was a closed and we were referred to the raucous, crowded and rather uncomfortable bar next door. Once agin staff were unobliging and dismissive. Not what we have come to expect from hotels in Spain, most disappointing end to our trip.

It was convenient , quiet and well located. Being located next to the café was very nice.

Chose this place the the web because of its apparent location and apparent and five star rating. This site lied about everything from their location to faciities and services. It was obviously a large hotel once in the 1900s. Akin to Fawlty Towers the TV series, but sadly is not a comedy. Reception was an old trestle covered in computer leads and screens. Upon arrival, the entrance to the hotel was dripping in overload in dusty fake flowers and plants and when we finally got some attention from the person on duty was asked to wait. Five minutes later this person obviously thought we were in her way of something......there was no one else in the room.....but we never managed to raise eye contact or a smile from her. After finally getting into our room we discovered the flooring was lifting (impinging on the door opening and closing)the vinyl top layer had shrunk from base. Curtains were hanging off the worn tracks and upon kick starting the A/C discovered not only creaky disturbing noises but that it made no impact on the temperature in the room. Note, temperatures were sitting in the mid thirties. Dinner time was another huge disappointment. When told the restaurant would open for dinner 8.pm, at 9pm we were still waiting for the chef to arrive. The waitresses had taken interpersonal lessons from the Reception staff. No eye contact and blank faces along with yes no answers...not a smile in site let alone we are pleased to see you here. The lift worked well.

Exterior good looking, Lounge nice big and clean, hotel staff friendly, corridors ok, rooms clean and comfortable, shower ok, views ok, price ok, recommended. Would come back. But if you want better go to the same hotel located by the lake. Same price but better location. Part of the same chain.

The hotel was in Segovia the province but not the city. Very misleading. And it was dead. We were the only guest. Receptionist tried to help but spoke no English. Not sure she understood that we were checking out 30 min after we arrived, even with our bags in tow.

Bit of confusion about this hotel as it recently changed names. The main areas have been updated recently. There isn't much around this hotel but it was perfect for our purpose which was attending at wedding nearby. Most of the guests stayed here and we had drinks and tapas at the Irish Bar next door. Rooms are basic but fine, air con was a little temperamental! Pool area is little strange with most of it indoors and little room to sunbathe but we made the best of it! Breakfast was pretty standard and included in the price. A taxi into Madrid is 70-90 euros or there infrequent buses and trains.

I had a really good experience in this hotel except for two things: SPA doesn't open in winter and breakfast is really poor! I would suggest to serve something more. They didn't even have the famous "jamón serrano"! As for the rest I can't complain about anything else. Rooms are big and comfortable. They give you everything you need!

We spend a weekend in this hotel, the rooms were not too bad, the forniture is in front of the closets so it is a little dificult to use them. The towels in the bathroom were too old well it was broken. The minibar was empty. The only good thing in the room was the bathroom. If i have to go back to San Rafael i will not stay here again.

The hotel is suffering from neglect and the room we were given was not clean. Nice front desk but the rooms are really not nice.
