"Be Warned! Deeply unimpressed!"

2.0

I made my booking through Expedia, paid in advance and received a confirmation. As I was arriving in the early morning, I notified the hotel (twice) in advance via Expedia and I can see that both messages were read. On arrival however there was no room available and no offer to help find alternative accommodation, despite it being 04:00 in the morning. Luckily for me, I was visiting at they invitation of the Government and had a protocol officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with me who did find me a room. Most travellers would not have this luxury and without his help I would have been left on the unwelcoming, unlit and, frankly, dangerous, streets of Niamey. Subsequently, the whole of the next morning was spent on the 'phone to Expedia - who were unable to resolve the issue of the original booking, or find me an alternative, so again I was left to my own devices. Deeply unimpressed!

"Well located but could be so much better"

6.0

The location led us to book this hotel as taxis are easily accessible; small stalls, DHL,and Marina market (supermarket) are very close. I had to change rooms(1st to 2nd floor) as my shower pressure was too low; wifi very, very poor and AC would automatically increase to 25/26 or just go off showing 'E4'. It seemed I was expected to 'compensate' for the privilege of the upgrade so I decided to find somewhere else. Even the move to the second floor didn't resolve the poor wifi connection. The food in the restaurant was quite tasty, well presented.I enjoyed the beef fillet with pommes sautes and the spaghetti bolognaise. The legumes sautes also worth trying if you dont want meat. Breakfast is the same every morning - glass of juice, a yoghurt, a piece of fruit, coffee/tea with a croissant a/o half a baguette with jam/butter. You can get an omelette but will need to ask. Restaurant staff were pleasant but could do with more training. The carpets around the communal areas of the hotel need a good sweel and wash. Swimming pool was filled during my visit but water was cloudy, unable to see bottom of the pool so didn't go in. Security staff at the entrance gate are half asleep, don't blame them given the heat and that they have no ventilation. But given it is quite small and in the centre of town, it shouldn't attract much attention. You can get your laundry done but you'll need to ask one of the cleaners to collect and take to laundry for you. No price list.

"Very basic but not too bad for Niamey"

6.0

Location was okay. The staff -friendly and supportive staff. Breakfast was quite monotonous but one could make do. Biggest downside for me was the rooms - my mattress had a serious depression at the centre making it hard to get some decent sleep. Air conditioning was also quite erratic which is a big deal in the Niamey heat.

"Good hotel in Niamey"

8.0

Most hotels in Niamey require serious maintenance, and Tenere is not an exception. While some rooms are nice and comfortable, others have a number of issues. Staff has been very friendly and helpful in ensuring guests were satisfied. Conference venue is good. I appreciated my stay at Tenere and would certainly go back should I be in Niamey again.

"Symphatic but typical African hotel"

6.0

I stayed at Hotel Tenere for week and had every opportunity to watch how this hotel was managed. The room was clean, the bed okay. Apart from the shower, which gave some spare some water, the toilet was clean and modern. However the relation between the restaurant and the kitchen might benefit from improvement. Even on order for an omelette may take easily a half hour or so. Sometimes it is served still hot, sometimes not. The beauty of Africa as one says. The security at the entrance was always on guard.

"En deçà du minimum requis"

2.0

Pas d'eau chaude, pas de serviettes, pas de shampoing, réservation loufoque (j'ai demandé 2 chambres simples, j'ai trouvé une chambre double). Au total, je me suis fait arnaquer de 90 euros.

"Average"

6.0

Stayed in one of the suites for 3 days. Breakfast was average but chefs were friendly. Front desk staff also friendly. Rooms are dated and bathrooms in need of a facelift. Wifi was on and off but glad I did not have to pay extra for wifi. Had lunch and dinner in the hotel which was tasty. Airport shuttle was included. Location is good, central and close to the airport as well.

"Helpful staff"

4.0

Nice friendly staff. Relatively clean room. But No hot water for two days. Then no water to flush for another 2 days. Bad plumbing. Colleague had water dripping into bathroom room from ceiling for whole day. Had to change room. Mosquitos. Overall not a pleasant stay.
