"great option for small comfortable and friendly base for work"

8.0

we just spent a week here and found it extremely functional as a base. my rom AC worked fine, wifi internet was available in the room and the lobby, there were good spaces in the lobby for meetings, and the restaurant staff were extremely helpful in letting us come in and eat at any time, and hold meetings there when needed. There are small frigs in the room, mostly functional water in the bathroom (I recommend filling up a couple of your empty drinking water bottles with tap water so you don't end up covered in suds and having the water run out.) they don't have teakettles in the rooms or irons. the rooms have TVs with local stations which occasionally show RFI or BBC. the credit card machine did not work when we were leaving so we had to change USD at the desk. security felt good and all in all we were pleased- will return in a couple of weeks even though we could book at the Gaweye or the Grand because of the very personal feel and service. free shuttle to airport, too.

"Considerably the best Hotel in Niamey"

6.0

Stayed in Hotel Tenere for approximately more than two months. Food was good although the menu was limited. Internet was pretty fast. The staff as well as the manager Mr. Husseini was very friendly. Despite my limited french, I could communicate very well with the staff here. I would not hesitate to stay here, the next time I'm in Niamey, Niger.

"Nice place with top class staff"

6.0

I spent a few days at the Tenere and I must say that the place was better than expected. The facilities need some improvements, especially the bathrooms, but overall it was a nice experience. The hotel is perfectly located downtown at walking distance from most of the important places of the city (Grand Marche is barely a 5-10 mins walk). I walked everywhere while there, something that perhaps I wouldn't have done had I stayed in the Grand Hotel (where I even saw armed guards by the door). Niamey is a great place to visit and I would suggest anyone going to West Africa to have a go at this country. It is beautiful, friendly and the river Niger is spectacular, especially at sunset.

"Good hotel with reasonable prices and nice african vibe"

8.0

I stayed in Hotel Tenere for about 3 weeks and it was a very good stay. First the location is great with bank, drugstore, airport all very close. The staff there is extremely friendly and will help you whenever you have a problem, no matter how late. Wifi works fine and is free, the pick up from the airport was also free. Food is pretty good though it is true the menu is limited, but if you ask for something they'll try and make it for you the next day, again, great service. The rooms are clean, the only complain would be the shower, not hot water everyday. Felt very secure and though I left my laptop, iphone and even some cash on the table, it never disappeared. I would recommend this hotel over Grand Hotel or Gawaye anytime.

"Friendly Staff, Good Alternative to Mega Hotels"

8.0

When my reservation at the Grand Hotel fell through (I had a confirmation email and had made two calls yet they wanted me to check out on day 3 of 5 and then check back in) I ended up at Hotel Tenere by recommendation of a cab driver. It certainly doesn't compare to the luxury of the Grand Hotel or Hotel Gawaye but the real gem of this place is the front desk staff. They are friendly and helpful as opposed to detached and obsequious like I found staff at the other two establishments. For example, my leather purse strap ripped and someone at the front desk sent it out to a leather repair shop for me and had it returned in an hour for $1. The rooms are a bit variable so take a glance before you settle into one but I've stayed in some very comfortable rooms with decent wifi and a good level of cleanliness. It's true that the menu at the restaurant is limited but the food prepared is quite good.
