"Oldie but great value for money"

10.0

I have been at this Hotel for a week, Wonderful large rooms, comfortable beds with Clean sheets every day, very polite and mostly English speaking staff, Quality Breakfast, Good Lifts and not any serious problems. Great for single Tourist or families. Someone complained about the carpets, yes they are rather old sadly some have cigaret butt mark BUT they are clean and vacuumed every day.I am really enjoying my stay at this very nice and friendly Hotel. Will stay here again.

"Malodorous Hallways and Stinky Room -- Not a 4-Star Hotel"

2.0

This is absolutely, positively NOT a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. I have stayed in various types of lodging and in many countries over the years -- from hostels to 5 star hotels -- and this hotel is by far the worst hotel I nearly stayed at. I was traveling with my wife and infant child. We stayed at a 5 star hotel for the duration of our scheduled visit. Our flight out of Chiang Mai was cancelled due to rain, so the airline took us to this mystery hotel. I didn't have a chance to read any reviews about this hotel ahead of time because the airline didn't inform us ahead of time about which hotel we were being taken to. Given that Chiang Mai has various clean and respectable 2-3 star options, I trusted that the airline would take us to a good hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by two men at the check-in counter. It appeared that only one of them was in proper uniform. After collecting our passports, we were given a single regular door key (not two plastic keycards). The key had a piece of thick metal that was attached to it. This piece of metal was about the size of a business card and it served, as we later found out, as the card to operate the room's lights. We went to the elevator and the elevator was old and small. Once the doors opened on our floor (which I can't recall now), the hallways were all gray. The walls and the floors were plain with no decorations whatsoever. There was a terrible reek in the hallways and the grey emptiness filled me with a terrifying sense of foreboding. When we opened the door to the room, there was a stale and offensive smell there to greet us. I will not insult bears by comparing the room to a bears' den right after hibernation. It just smelled indescribably bad. I reached for the AC thermostat in the rooms to turn the AC on, and the thermostat came off the wall. The room had no AC -- only warm air blowing out of the single vent. The furnishings in the room were antiquated, and the bedding looked old and in desperate need of replacement. The nightstands, headboard, and all the walls near the bed were all dirty. I tried calling the front desk to get our room changed but there was no answer. I wen't downstairs and saw a really long line of the cancelled flight's passengers still waiting to get their room. It was hopeless. I got on the phone and called the Holiday Inn (which by the way, is closer to a 3 star hotel than a 4 star hotel in Chiang Mai). I reserved a room by phone and I called a car. The car arrived in about 4 minutes and we left the hotel. I always read both good and bad reviews on TripAdvisor and Expedia before booking any hotel rooms. The reviews have thus far proven reliable for me 100% of the time. Please read the reviews for this hotel if you're thinking about staying here.

"Wonderful hotel with high standard service"

8.0

The hotel is decorated in a gentle and beautiful way. Although it looks old fashioned but inside feel a sense of another world. Quiet and air-conditioned from all the noise and Thai crowds. Service is excellent. The food is varied and delicious (I only ate breakfast). The room service is of a good standard and is meticulous in its high hygiene. The hotel is accessible to the disabled. There is a valuable luggage storage at reception. The front desk service is courteous and with the smile and goodwill of the staff helping in everything. This hotel was excellent for me and I was in it for 28 days. I enjoyed every day and the next time I went to Chiang Mai, I had no doubt that I would come back to this hotel again. Highly recommended and the price is definitely reasonable.

"Lanna Palace stay"

8.0

Very nice and friendly service to all. Own by Christian and you can worship with them every Sunday morning in the hotel.Good news to Christian worker or missionary who travel there and short of budget just let them know so they can help you as they can as brothers and sisters in Christ. I love it because its not too far from night barzar market.

"High risk for children"

4.0

We stayed in this hotel few months ago, it is an old hotel just fine, however there are risks around lobby of the hotel and parents need to pay attention. My son 4 years old ran around hotel lobby and he fall in the a table and got very serious injury, there is no doctor or first aid equipment in the hotel, nobody from hotel manager to staffs at front office know how to handle the incident. We then took our son to Chiang Mai international hospital and he finnally had 12 stitches. When we returned to hotel, i decided to look around hotel lobbly to see what made that serious injury and i found out that there are abput 7 square tables at hotel lobby, with marble serface and very sharp edges. I have made a comment to hotel front office team, but maybe they did not care, i also tried to move some table to hide the sharp edges, and they moved them back when i left. So, it is ok to stay but must be very carefull if you are going with your children. I hope the hotel management will conduct a risk assessment and ensure the hotel is safe for everyone.

"Ok for reasonable price"

6.0

It is a fine hotel nothing really wrong with it, but it looks very old and some amenities don't work. It would have been great for its price for a night, but we spent three, so you start getting annoyed by some things. For starters, the lobby is really pretty clean and looks good with nice and helpful staff, but the other floors look old, they have carpet on the floor and in bedroom, which I really don't like. The toilet doesn't flush like it is supposed too, you have to try it some times until it does. When you are showering, water comes from the mosaics and to the floor and good for tall people trying to get a relaxing shower, it is too short and you can't take it from the wall on your hand, you have to lean all the time. Besides that, the room is big and the bed is confortable. It has a pool, but it is not very welcoming and walls all around it. We didn't use the spa so I can't say if it was good. The breakfast needs variety and more quality specially in the kind of bread. So overall the staff is friendly and helpful, the room is big and cosy and the hotel is near the amazing night market (10-15min walk) of Chiang Mai. Despite that it looks very very old and is in serious need of repairs on bathroom and a big renovation. Good for a night or two if you are looking for value for less money.

"Good hotel for 2 or 3 nights"

6.0

The hotel is not a pallace, but ok to stay for two or three nights. If you don't mind carpets, the rooms are spacy and clean. The breakfast buffet has a good choice for asian guests, but as an european guest you might be disappointed from what you are used to eat in the morning. I can't rate the pool, but it looks like there is no sun after 3 pm.

"Good enough "

8.0

The location is good near the night market, has a nice swimming pool, rooms are large and comfortable but overall installations seem pretty outdated, loose like this hotel was luxury style back in the 80's and stayed there until now.

"bed hotel"

2.0

The loby of the hotel is nice but when you go up by the elevator to the room it looks so ugly and neglected. the room is not maintained, everything is old and not working. The worst thing is that there is bedbugs in the room. I definitley not recomend this place and I will never book this hotel again!!!
