"Comfy hotel for hill walkers"

10.0

Very good hotel, no complaints at all. Just one small point, it would be nice to have coffee and a kettle in the room but that is a minor point.

"Beautiful and agreable stop"

10.0

The hostel is very well situated for people who want to discover and walk in the Teide region. After walking the trekking way it was really agreable to go to the spa (sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, very complete installation). Nice personal, good advices to visit the regian and the island (which is still wild if you know where to go), good breakfast and very good restaurant not so expensive for the category of the hostel.

"Unusual for Tenerife"

8.0

The hotel VilAlba provides excellent service, excellent food, and has a good spa with indoor/outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, saunas, plunge pools and steam room. There is also a well-equipped gym and a climbing wall. The pool is heated with solar panels, so when there is a lot of cloud the pool is too cold for use. The surrounding hillside offers ample opportunity for walking. Being two-thirds of the way up to the El Teide crater, driving in and out, for visits elsewhere, means negotiating narrow roads, many hairpin bends, and impatient "locals". Te altitude means that temperatures at the hotel are 6 to 10 deg C below those at the south coast. For those hoping for an active holiday away from the crowds, this is a good place to be.

"Perfect peace and relaxation"

2.0

Hotel Villalba is much nicer than it appears on the photographs. It is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by pine trees with lots of lovely walks of all lengths and difficulty straight from the grounds. The room we had was actually a suite and was large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the forest. The spa facilities were good though the pool was quite cold in October. Good to jump into after the sauna. Food was fine but not exciting. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The village of Vilaflor is in easy walking distance and is quaint and friendly with cobbled streets a big square by the church, a petrol station and a couple of small supermarkets. La Casa del Pana is an authentic Canarian restaurant where all the food is definitely freshly cooked on the premises and probably grown in the garden, too. The goat stew is amazing. You will need a car if you are staying here and want to go anywhere else. There is 1 bus a day to the Teide National Park but that is about all. Taxis from the airport are about 30 Euros. Hotel Vilalba was as close to perfect as you could get for the price and I would recommend anyone who likes walking and who wishes to see a different side to Tenerife from Los Christianos and Americas to spend some time here.

"Spa Vilalba, a different face of southern Tenerife"

10.0

The hotel is on the outskirts of a quiet mountain village, Vilaflor, and has a serene atmosphere enhanced by the surrounding pines and the gentle sound of water and meditative music in the foyer. It is spacious and elegant, with dark wood furnishings. The grounds are laid out nicely and encourage quiet contemplation. It is the opposite of the hustle of the Tenerife coast and very well situated for walking in the pine forests or on the volcanic mountain of Teide. German and Spanish are the main languages with not much English spoken. Breakfast was included in our package and was excellent. We also had free daily use of the indoor swimming pool and one use of the spa facilities of water beds, sauna, steam room, plunge pool and two other similar features. We had evening meals in local village restaurants which were good and reasonably priced.
