Gran Real Yucatan

The location is perfect - very close to the major dining/entertainment areas but tucked away just enough to be very quiet at night. The staff was very accomodating and friendly.

It's a little bit pricey by comparison to some others nearby, but really the nice staff and location made up for that. I would recommend staying here.

It was a nice, charming older Merida hotel. There was protected parking , WiFi andnAC. It’s close to the center of town. Staff was wonderful.

Convenient to centro, clean, quiet.

All of the staff were wonderful and very accommodating! However, there did not appear to be many guests. Quite convenient location and perhaps would have more guests if updated? We were disappointed that there was only breakfast / lunch service and no longer evening dinner service. (As a first time visitor to Merida) my opinion is it's a beautiful property that probably could be returned to its former glory if updated and well maintained.

We enjoyed this place. It was an old place and was probably very grand years ago but it still maintained it's sense of grandeur. It was very clean, relaxing, peaceful and quiet, and easily within walking distance of the main sights. The staff were great, very helpful and obliging. And there was a pool in the middle of the inner courtyard.

I missed not having a fridge.

It’s an old construction, beautiful, that needs some repairs … also, they need to add new towels … to make us feel more comfortable or just bring your own like I did for myself ! Other than that, it makes you feel safe and the staff is very helpful in case any problems! I will stay again for sure!!!

Very friendly staff, always happy to help. Hotel is in a central location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Rooms a decent size.

I visited this hotel as a tour leader with a group of 16 persons This hotel was not the worst of all our stay but also the worst hotel I experienced for years in so many countries. The management is so unprofessional rude and lack of ethics. We experienced a catastrophic stay that I will describe to you. But shortly note that you should never book in this hotel again. The Hotel should close to be completely renovated especially its plumbery and do a serious rodent control. We saw RATS strolling n the hotel corridors and rooms plenty of bugs. Just imagine paying for a 4 stars hotel and have NO WATER running in your toilets!!!! You can read below the full story of our nightmare: We arrived at the Grand Real Yucatan Hotel on the 18th of October 2024 at around 6:15 pm . First impression the hotel is quaint, charming but old, with old furniture, missing chandeliers in the halls, missing decorations elements… After I checked the rooming list and distributed the keys, one room had plenty of bugs on the floor and have to be changed, but our big surprise will be when, a guest and I, on the ground floor encountered a RAT in the hotel corridor! We screamed, the baggage handler saw the rat and explain to us calmly, as the guy at the reception will that, because of the garden in the middle of the hotel lobby this can happen!!!! Do you think it is normal to have rats running in the hotel corridors?? I will ask the guest with me to be discreet about that and avoid talking about this in front of the group… We have dinner at the hotel…. And when we go back to our rooms around 9:30pm we all discover that water is not running anymore in the ALL the hotel! We thought first that it was a simple issue to be solved quickly but it was not,…. No more water anymore in all the hotel…. Guests needed to take showers, to go to the toilets… Just imagine the disaster…. I stayed at the reception with the hotel front office person and the personnel trying to find a solution… They try to contact the manager probably sleeping…. No emergency number answering straight away… After half an hour the manager answers apparently, a plumber and the hotel engineer are called but no solution is found! The hotel personnel explained to me at midnight that the water issue would be solved only by 10am the NEXT day and that they will put some bottles of water at the room doors! They called this a solution for a 4 stars hotel! In your opinion is this acceptable??? Imagine my position in the middle of the night with guests needing a shower and needing to use the toilet…. I will let you imagine the disaster! Below the photo shows the water gallons the hotel provided for the toilets! If some guests can pull up a 25 liters water gallons, most of them cannot !!!! We can understand that problems like this one can occur, but a four-star hotel should have better solutions or at least take the responsibility of the deficiency and have the decency to compensate the disaster to the guests offering the night complementary! On the 19th of October the next day, water was running again in the hotel around 10am as announced but the overnight at this hotel was a nightmare! A disaster! I had a sleepless night as tour leader and tour organizer! The minimum was to compensate the guests in a way! And for me as a professional in the tourism field the minimum was to offer the night complementary! Anyway, as a result, the hotel and the manger will not compensate AT ALL the guests! Only a tequila drink will be offered at the dinner. NO GIFTS, NO UPGRADE as stated by the manager. The manager even lied to MEXITOURS ( our local agent) telling them she upgraded some rooms. Not one single upgrade was made. We have to change rooms because it was plenty of bugs! Below the photo of the room offered on the third floor , same room as all the other rooms, What upgrade is the manager talking about???? I was not only disappointed by this hotel but keep a lot of bitterness especially thinking about how rude, impolite and unprofessional the manager of this hotel was. To put at least one positive note to this review I will report the 2 good dinners we experienced at this hotel. Even if the portions served for the dinner were very small but the food was good and tasty and waiters friendly.
