Great hotel for visiting family. Welcoming, comfortable stay. Would recommend.

We stayed here for just one night and a bed and breakfast basis. The receptionist Abigail was super warm and friendly. Really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and had everything that you needed. The bed was comfortable, the Wi-Fi superb. It was peaceful and quiet affording a good night sleep. The use of the leisure facilities for no extra charge was great. The gym has everything that you need, the pool was good and the sauna and steam rooms were really hot, just as I like them. The free towels to use the leisure facilities is a great addition. There is also a well stocked shop if you have forgotten anything that might prevent you from using these facilities. The lockers and changing area was good. With a swimming costume drier in the changing rooms. I spoke to a guy in the sauna who pays £38 per month to use the leisure facilities so to get it free with the stay was great. The breakfast was excellent. It is buffet style but the bacon was butchers quality, the fresh fruit was well presented and varied. It included continental which had meats and cheeses, muller yogurt, pro biotic drinks, the choice was very good. There was a very difficult, rude female who was sulking as she was told that she couldn’t take food out of the restaurant, she approached every member of staff trying to get her own way and each member of staff dealt with her politely and professionally and were a credit to the company. Overall I do believe that you get what you pay for and for what we paid, this hotel overdelivered on expectation.

My husband and i stayed overnight on our way to Scotland. For ease of access off the M6, the location is great. Everything was just 'ok' at the hotel however, the bedding (inside duvet and pillows) were very smelly. The outer cases had been washed but the inside bedding smell came through. If i wasnt so tired at midnight i would have complained. Thankfully we were only staying that one night. The staff were very nice and did their best considering they were short staffed that morning.

Stayed here with 8 family members. We were made to feel very welcome by every member of staff. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable with a choice of softer or firmer pillows. Very good choice of breakfast, likewise for the evening meal. Would stay again.

What is it with UK hotels - how do they consider such bad levels of maintenance acceptable? - potholes in the carpark - rusty machines in the gym - corridors that would shame a youth hostel (and smell) - very very cheaply fitted rooms (even the premier rooms) - ingredients at breakfast are super cheap. Fresh fruit is limited to an apple. Juice was startlingly sweetened. It's an old building. It has everything you might need. But it just isn't maintained even close to the standard I'd expect of an IHG property.

The hotel is good location from the motorway and not too far from amenities. The staff were friendly on arrival. The system unfortunately went down when trying to check in but was early so didn't mind as was up and running about 10 minutes after check in time started. We didn't eat here at all so cannot review that however the bar and dining area looked well maintained. We did use the pool on day of check in. Some of the area looked worn and needing refurb by the back of the jacuzzi and the chlorine levels were high which a few people commented on. Towels are provided too which was a good addition. Be mindful they do have swimming lessons in the pool so one lane is unavailable during this time and the other had children playing about so gets noisy and busy but didn't cause us any issues. The room we had was of good size, the bathroom had a bath which was nice as not many do these days. There were also toiletries too which was handy. The only issue we had was the noise from the guests next door. We could hear them at night and then the next morning quite early, children screaming/crying which isn't the hotels fault but wasn't what I wanted early morning. Overall I was happy with my stay and would stay again.
