The hotel rooms are tired and needing some love. Bed was comfy. Food in the hotel was a let down. Would not eat there again. A big dog peed on the couch the bar area and a huge puddle was made on the floor. All that was done a few paper towels to soak it ip. No propper cleaning and that disturb us.

Never stayed at a holiday inn before and at £80ish per night wasn’t expecting much tbh. However really surprised! Check in was efficient, room and bathroom were larger than expected and clean, little tired looking in places. Situated on the higher floors but room was right next to a connecting fire door which banged all night. Ordered room service for dinner and it arrived quickly and hot. Breakfast was the usual offerings. Cooked was fine just personal preference the hash browns were just saturated in grease. Water refills available at the bar if you ask and enjoyed the free access to the pool/sauna and steam room. Take a £1 for a locker and if you prefer a quiet times check with reception as the leisure centre is used by locals too. Cannot fault the staff so personable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Would stay agin if I’m ever up this way.

Overnight stay and whilst evening menu didn’t have many options for gluten free diet, Calum, our waiter went out of his way to ensure my husband was able to enjoy a main course.

Great for a short stay - family of 3, plenty of room in the family room, great full length mirror, space to get ready, comfy beds and love the pillow choice. We had our multi plug extension lead for charging multiple devices. Food was good, we had 4 tapas and chips which was enough for 2. Great value.

Stayed here many times however booked in got to room key card didn't work. Went for meal ordered starter and main. They missed starter off. Got main. (Lasagne) It was ted hot, over cooked I think, rubbery, bland. Last time I stayed remember breakfast was poor as well. Disappointing

We have stayed here many times, and it has mostly been a good experience. However, we were pretty disappointed after our latest visit and standards seem to be on the wane. The Premium room had an unpleasant ‘sweaty’ smell, which had probably been noticed by housekeeping, as both windows were open. The carpet was grubby and the bedding had seen better days. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable. The hotel was very crowded with lots of children/teenagers on both nights, which wasn’t too disruptive until breakfast when it was a free for all, actually it was free for kids, running all over the place and grabbing food. We were on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate (£170 per night, so not dirt cheap). On the first night we ate at the restaurant from the menu and obviously paid for our wine/drinks as extra. On night two, the brusque young woman at the restaurant reception asked if we were on a dinner rate, then gave us, what seemed like two hastily typed menus and said ‘you can have this’. Well, actually we’ll eat what we choose, but she seemed determined that we wouldn’t have a regular menu. I understand that there would be limitations, and you could effectively order everything on the menu on a dinner rate, and no doubt some folk try this one. We insisted on the regular menu and said that if the rules had changed over the past 24 hours, we would pay extra for ‘off menu’. She then marched over to our table and loudly told us we were allowed £25 each for our dinner and then asked how we would like to pay! We explained we had left an open credit card on check-in, as we always do. Really felt that we were treated quite badly and with disrespect. We are Platinum IHG members, and have stayed at this hotel, as well as many other IHG’s, at least 20 times. There’s certainly been a change at this hotel and standards have slipped. The place needs some maintenance, corridors are shabby and some areas smell mouldy. It really is a shame as I have reviewed the hotel previously and given it 5 stars, but I feel we’ll have to find an alternative on our next visit.

It’s the second time I’ve stayed there in the last 6 months, solely due to its location based around my work. Unfortunately this will be the last occasion. In my opinion it needs a refurb. The rooms are looking tatty now. To add to this, the staff are not the most welcoming, especially in the restaurant. Just felt a bit stale to me.
