Holiday Inn Haydock M6 Jct23 by IHG

Lovely staff but especially Jade, one of the bar staff. I was coming down for dinner with some work colleagues but had to treat a hypo due to low blood sugar (unfortunately I'm type 1 diabetic). I informed one of my colleagues about this as I was waiting at the bar, upon overhearing this Jade handed me a mars bar so I could ge my sugars back up. A really kind gesture and a excellent member of your staff

We had a good stay at the Holiday Inn Haydock whilst visiting family. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and clean, with a modern bathroom and shower and minifridge. The pillows were a little soft, but a personal preference. My platinum status was recognized, and we got a room upgrade and free drink/snack. The gentleman on the bar was very friendly. The TV in the room could've been better, we couldn't cast to it and it was a little old, with no digital channels but fine for a night. we couldn't use our phones to watch TV as the wifi was a little slow. There was an issue with the breakfast included on the rate I had booked, and I did have to be assertive to get what I had booked, but was eventually given breakfast vouchers. It was not my fault the wording on the booking information I had received was contradictory. The breakfast was good, it could've been a little hotter but was perfectly adequate. I would return if I was in the area as the hotel is convenient for the motorway, clean and comfortable.

We booked a double room and we're allocated a twin. The hotel was full so they couldn't move us and refused to refund. The manager was defensive and brash, blaming everyone other than himself or staff. He claimed that booking.com and ourselves held responsibility and showed us a folder full of printouts due to this issue. There was no indication or reassurance that this issue had been raised with booking.com when asked. Eventually he requested we stepped away from the desk and insinuated we were being rude and abusive. His defensiveness had heightened at this point. The room itself was filthy, including sanitary wrappers on the foor. A staff member came and hoovered the carpet with us present. I personally cleaned all surfaces because they were both dusty and dirty, images show a small selection of the grime, our videos show a lot more. The room was a dedicated disabled space, so please bear in mind designed for vulnerable members of society (I am disabled myself but do not require disability sleeping and washing facilities). There was either blood or faeces on the assessible shower chair, which was folded against the wall. Again, I cleaned this but wetwipes didt allow me to clean the flooring, which was grubby, too. We left the room far cleaner and more hygienic than we found it. A bracket was hanging off the wall that should protect the water pipe leading to the shower. The water pipes vibrated (knocked loudly and constantly) behind the wall, which woke us up when next door showered early. The bed bases were stained with the remnants of urine. The windows were covered in bugs, some alive. Leaving on a positive note, the breakfast was lovely. There were both hot and cold choices. My partner opted for the cookd breakfast and me the cold options. Food was fresh and tasteful.

My wife & I were stopping overnight enroute to Scotland. On arrival we were greeted with a lovely welcome and a big smile from Dillen on reception. We were on a DB&B deal. Our room was spacious, clean and with all essential amenities provided. The hotel were experience a Cyber attack problem where WiFi went down and of course payments could not be processed. They handled the situation extremely professionally and offered guests complementary drinks until the problem was resolved. Food for dinner & breakfast was excellent with lots of choices to suit everyone's taste. A big thank you to the waiting staff and a special thanks to Jade our server. This is the perfect stopover just off the M6 Junction 23.

The property was great. Just what we needed for our small family. The reception was very welcoming and pleasant. We were well taken care of. The food was so delicious.

There wasn’t any major issues - which is all we wanted just to sleep for the night. Very limited options for getting food so be prepared to eat at the hotel.

Last minute booking as wasn't sure sure how far I would get with my journey and was pleased with the welcome I got and the room was all ready with the sofa bed made up for my son so well done to all informed .. will definitely tried this one again on another trip .

The stay was just ok the two nights I stayed with my daughter was good but breakfast wasn’t the best wasn’t offered coffee as I sat down no plates or glasses to take food breakfast options were lacking and when I asked if there was any pastry’s the reply I got was there are all gone no apologies etc and also one of the staff nearly walked into me with a full jug of coffee. There must of been a wedding on as the noise was horrendous the first night sleep was ok but the second night wasn’t good.

It's not pretty on the outside, but the staff more than make up for the tired exterior. Everyone from the reception staff to the restaurant staff were welcoming, kind and helpful. They went above and beyond to make my son's first hotel stay "Amazing!" Specially preparing dessert for him, and then adding an extra one to take to his room were his highlight, along with the 10am complimentary ice cream! The room was immaculate, the only down being a constant hum of maybe the air-conditioning units outside? It didn't affect our sleep however. I booked the dinner, bed and breakfast package which gave great value for money as we were able to use the pool both days too. Would definitely stay again!

Everything is good. Just the restaurant is busy in the morning for breakfast
