"Nice enough but areas to improve"

6.0

We stayed for one night to attend an event locally and found the hotel to be nice enough, although I’m not 100% sure if we’d go back. The good Ideal location in the centre of town Delicious breakfast (although feel like there could’ve been a bit more choice) Junior Suite was nice, although some of it felt like it needed a little TLC - peeling wallpaper - and it didn’t feel like a ‘suite’ rather a slightly larger room with a bath in it. Lady on checkout was fantastic, as were the restaurant staff at breakfast. Even though we were facing the main road, it was quiet (but wasn’t the weekend so not sure if it’s still quiet on a Friday/Saturday) Everything seemed clean and bed was comfy! The not so good When we checked in we were just told our room name and that it was upstairs - not where the room was or any other information such as breakfast times, etc. The check-in situation needs improving because of this - it’s your first impression of the hotel, it needs to be better. We were charged an over the top holding deposit for one night, especially as we said we weren’t eating there. I felt sorry for the couple ahead of us who were charged hundreds for a few night stay when they clearly weren’t expecting it. No sockets near the bed for charging (just one double socket on the other side of the room). We had late check out but got a phone call from reception around 11ish saying someone needed to come and test the WiFi and would we mind if they came in?! If I’ve got a late checkout it’s because I want to spend some time relaxing in my room and don’t want to have to let some random man in to do maintenance work that should be done when we’ve checked out. It was a nice hotel overall but I think we’d stay elsewhere if returning to Tunbridge Wells.

"Comfortable stay in faded glory at a price"

7.0

The staff in all areas were helpful and friendly particularly Victoria on Reception and Danielle in the Bistro The location is excellent for central Tunbridge Wells. We ate in the Bistro for both dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious and the ambience just right. There are comfortable lounges and bar to relax in.

Make sure, whatever quality room you book that it’s on the 1st floor. Our room, on the 2nd floor, was tired and in need of decoration and freshening up. We saw in other rooms and those on the 2nd floor were disappointedly tired compared with those on the 1st floor. All in all, the stay felt on the pricey side.

"Nice hotel but very thin walls made it hard to sleep"

6.0

The room was beautiful and spotless. Massive bathroom with a walk in shower plus a big bath. Bed was comfortable. Tea & coffee making in room with a nespresso machine. The staff were lovely but the walls were very thin. We could hear our neighbour watching tv until 3am and then it started again at 6am so sleeping was difficult. The room was £147 for the night but our card was charged with £250 so that we could use the restaurant. Which I thought odd as surely we could just pay as we go. We didn’t end up eating at the restaurant so that now has to be refunded. Seems a hassle to do that rather than pay as you go. Other than that it was lovely .
