A beautiful character building well presented and run.

What a neat place to stay at, has all the feel of yesterday with today's comfort. And really neat owners made you feel welcome after a long day of travel.

Easy to locate (well, GPS had no difficulty!) located on a fairly busy road close to the Centre of Town. It's the character which is outstanding in a town with lots of 'art deco' properties: this is firmly Victorian! The former 'Railway Hotel' although the passenger train service has long gone! The rail freight yard IS still across the road, so you don't choose the location for the scenery!!

Delightful night in historic hotel with the best comfy bed & pillows - great nights sleep. Very close to a variety of restaurants.

We were a bit surprised to find the old Victorian Hotel surrounded by high modern buildings but the welcome was very friendly. We were lucky to get one of the few parking spaces outside the hotel-not sure where others parked. We were shown to a ground floor room with, as we expected, old fashioned furniture but a modern comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. We went for a stroll and then came back for a meal at the hotel. Service was a little laid back and the meal a bit slow considering the dining room wasn't busy but the food was very nice-obviously all freshly cooked.As the hotel is old there is no double glazing-traffic noise didn't disturb us but it became very windy and we were aware of this during the night. I think the young couple running the hotel are fairly new to this life but are making a very good effort -good luck to them.

A very charming hotel that I would stay in again if I was in the area.
