Schoone Oordt Country House

We had an absolutely fabulous stay, we just wish we could have stayed longer! The room was beautiful, comfortable, spotless and had everything a guest could have needed to make the perfect stay. Then the evening meal and breakfast ! well they were spectacular. If you stay make sure you have dinner it is exceptional.

This is an absolutely stunning place to stay with the best breakfasts, exceptional service and gorgeous rooms with the comfiest beds and lovely special touches. We only stayed for one night but I wish we had longer there. Thank you for looking after us so well.

We had an wonderful experience at the beautifully restored Schoone Oordt Country House. The fireplace in our room added a charming touch, and it was evident that the owner, Alison, pours her heart and soul into this place.

We are currently here at Schoone Oordt and are, quite frankly, reluctant to leave. What a find! Check in was relaxed and smooth, Joanie and Michelle looked after us so very well and the food is sublime. Dinner last night was a delicious soup followed by perfectly cooked beef and pork which we thoroughly enjoyed. We have been in South Africa for three weeks now and have just had THE best sleep of our trip so far. The bed is super comfy and the crisp cotton bedding just heavenly. One tip for anyone fortunate enough to stay here is, please do not rush off in the morning. Relax and take your time over one of the best breakfasts ever. This is simply the perfect stop for anyone driving between Cape Town and the Garden Route and is really worth at least one night to stop and enjoy a delightful old historic town and even a visit to the Bontebok National Park as we did yesterday afternoon. We are very lucky to have planned to stay here again on our way back to Cape Town next week and are already so looking forward to it. Thank you all Alison, Joanie and Michelle. Our stay here was not as smooth as it should have been. Check in was a little chaotic. The staff were helpful but service was slow and we do not recommend this hotel. Swellendam has little to offer and not worth an overnight stay.

What a wonderful place out in the country! They honor of their way to please guests. Breakfast and dinner are high quality. Rather than the usual breakfast buffet breakfast is high quality served at the table with options.

We stayed at the Schoone Oordt during our recent holiday and from arrival to departure we had a wonderful stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the rooms were first class, but the food!…the food was superb, both the dinner and breakfast were absolutely excellent…we just wished we had stayed another couple of nights with them in Swellendam. Ps: by the way it also has an excellent laundry service

Fantastic hospitality, clean room, peaceful convenient location, excellent breakfast and wonderful restaurant. An unusual extra was having our car washed in the morning. I would gladly stay here again.
