Schoone Oordt Country House

We enjoyed our 3 days stay very much. Quiet room with cozy veranda, a few steps to the pool with lovely chairs and shade. Super breakfast and top fine dining with a vast choice of good wines, lovely ambiance and service.

Als wir angekommen sind, war ich sprachlos. Die Unterkunft ist wirklich extrem schön und mit wahnsinnig viel Liebe eingerichtet und gestaltet. Am Abend gab es ein Weihnachtsmenue was auch super war und das frühstück am Morgen war auch wirklich top. Wir kommen auf jeden Falll wieder, einfach nur toll. *****

The food and service here is exceptional. They go out of their way to be hospitable and out of a nearly 3 week holiday travelling across South Africa and Mauritius, the best food I ate of the whole trip was here. I'm still thinking about the mushroom risotto at dinner. And the grapes with breakfast! Also a shout out to the roobois martini! The property is also stunning, it was the most comfortable bed of our trip, and a dip in the saltwater pool in the morning felt special.

My only regret was not staying longer!

I just wrapped up an amazing stay at Schoone Oordt Country House in Swellendam, and I can honestly say South Africa continues to impress me with the quality of boutique hotels. This property is no exception. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel right at home by the owner, Alison, who is an exceptional host and her amazing team. The rooms are truly 5-star quality—elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. The resort is lush and peacfull and a great pool to complete the package. We had an unforgettable dinner, where I tried the local rabbit—absolutely outstanding! The breakfast the next morning was beyond anything you'd expect from a 5-star hotel, served in a beautiful conservatory overlooking the meticulously manicured gardens. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. I’d give them more than 5 stars if I could. A huge thank you to Alison and her wonderful team. We’ll definitely be back soon! (Paul and Liam Micallef)

We recently moved on from a four night stay at Schoone Oordt. Room 8 is away from the main building, with lovely furnishings, large bathroom with separate tub and rainshower. There is a small seating area and comfortable terrace not far from the swimming pool. The staff are fabulous and well trained although we did not get to meet owners Alison and Richard as they were away on a well deserved break before the Christmas rush. Breakfast is a multi course affair, we actually prefer buffets but we enjoyed the offering by and large. The Conservatory Restaurant serves excellent food, certainly as good as you can get in Swellendam and should be rated in its own right We never sampled the afternoon tea on the verandah as there was ample supply in the room. One point to note is that the steps up and down to the restaurant are quite steep so take care especially when it is wet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would certainly return if we are in Swellendam and have already recommended it to colleagues.

What a lovely place to stay, we only had 1 night, but from the moment you arrive you are looked after by Alison and the staff (Lulu). The food was amazing for both Breakfast and dinner, plus we were lucky enough to be staying when there was a tasting session by a local distillery (Whisky & Gin), which was a nice touch pre-dinner.

Owner and staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly and informative. The food was fantastic.

Had a wonderful one night stay during our Garden Route trip, highly recommend this wonderful historic guest house. Pure luxury bedroom and bathroom, incredible local food ( best we have had so far!) and kind , attentive staff. Perfect for a stroll around lovely Swellendam .
