The Everglades Park Hotel

We booked having been sent an email containing the All Inclusive Break offer. The weekend coincided with heavy snow in our region and across the Pennines there was also snowfall though not as severe. Due to the weather conditions we set off early anticipating a slower and longer journey. We arrived at 14.20. The head receptionist declined to check us in as we were 40 minutes early. Bearing in mind the day and the conditions we found this extremely unwelcoming. The excuse was the cleaners might not have finished preparing all the rooms. We later established there were only eight rooms occupied that night of possibly 60 rooms. There was no sign of cleaning being done anywhere. We were pointed to the bar area where we were expected to sit until 3pm with only the security lighting and a very cold room for company. We left and went to a local garden centre cafe, returning an hour later. The evening meal was nowhere near the quality advertised on the sample menu displayed. We did not want pub food, and the sample menu from their website showed food upgrades at reasonable uplift from the included set menu which swayed us in our choice of weekend away as there is plenty of choice in January. For example, the sample menu had smoked salmon as a £2.50 supplement. It didn't appear on Sundays menu or anything of similar quality. Steak as a supplement was now £13, increased from £9.00 on the sample menu. All sides were increased by £1.50/£2.00 each item. Desserts were ridiculous. Sticky toffee pudding was increased as a supplement by 400% (£2.00 to £8.00) These are not acceptable increases in a period of just a few days between making our reservation and staying at Everglades. After the meal most of the guests returned to the bar - it was still very cold in there and most people sat with outdoor coats on. The stewards who were friendly and helpful brought a small electric fire which was lost in the large bar area. The bedroom was also much too cold and the small convector in the room was inadequate. The bed was large and comfortable but the duvet only covered the top of the bed, i.e. it did not overhang at either side. There were other issues within the bedroom and ensuite that did not reach required standards but we sympathise with the problems of maintaining a large hotel.

My wife and I had booked 2 nights on the all inclusive deal and it was fantastic value for your money. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and as my wife as to use a crutch and my arm to get about we were immediately greeted at our car by Mike who was the perfect gentleman who assisted my wife and myself and our experience continued at reception being greeted by the Hotel Manager Angie who introduced herself to us booked us in with Lynn and then took our case and escorted us to our room 111.Ground floor twin in very good order. Thanks housekeeping. Our stay just kept getting better we had dinner booked for 1900Hrs with pre drinks in the bar were we were served by Tony who was just so kind, understanding and so helpful and considerate. We sat for dinner served by Tony and Mike and the food quality, taste and presentation was superb on both evenings and both breakfasts. Thanks Emma at breakfast and thank you to the excellent Chefs on duty for some very fine food. Such a shame we were only staying 2 nights but I have already booked 4 nights in February for 4 of my family. BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE. Ken & Marie Room 111

I stayed in this hotel and this hotel was alright but it was abit outdated however the staff were fine and good and I didn’t get much sleep in this hotel but however the food was nice but big overpriced even the staff were helpful but they should get a refurbishment

We booked two double rooms for 4 people with breakfast. They let us check in as 4 people and when we went for breakfast they told us we had only booked for 2 people. They charged us £25 for the breakfast for 2 people yet only one of us was aloud to eat. When we questioned they the staff were really unpleasant and not kind. The lady in the restaurant came over as we sat down to eat shouting you have only paid for 1 person. This was very embarrassing We was sitting in the bar chatting and the receptionist came and asked us to be quiet. We had a member of banging on the door at 11.30pm telling us to stop laughing in our as the people next door had complained about us. When we arrived there was a notice on the door saying the room had been cleaned by sarah. The room was dirty unkept. Bathroom bin had someone’s pot noodle tub a sweet wrappers in. There was a used contraption patch on the stick on the side of the dressing table. The customer services is appalling Wouldn’t recommend this place at all

Absolutely awful stay! Staff very rude! We was sat at the bar having a laugh together! An was told to be quiet! This is is in the day time aswell! We finally went up to our rooms an wow!! It was supposed to have been cleaned! Stains in the sheets potnoodle still in the bin a used nicotine patch stuck to the side if the cabinet 🤦‍♀️ worst experience.please be wary about booking here.

The hotel and staff itself was excellent But the room was a bit hot and cold And the shower was OMG !!! It either burnt your back or froze ya bum We would return though x

Wow! What an amazing stay we had. The staff are wonderful they really & sincerely go above & beyond. The food was delicious & beautifully served. Extremely comfortable beds resulting in a great nights sleep. Good sized rooms. We’ll definitely return! Thank you to all staff who contributed to make our stay perfect

Could do with a bit more choice in the cooked breakfast. There were no tomato's, mushrooms or fried egg.
