Rooms were clean but in need of a refresh.

All the rear facing rooms suffered from noise from the various exterior extractor fans and coolers going off throughout the night - it was hot so all the windows were open. Breakfast was very poor. Plenty of people don’t eat meat these days, and don’t want an enormous fry up, but something more healthy. No fresh fruit, orange juice, yoghurts, granola, the sort of thing you expect these days and easy to organise as a buffet help yourself. Very poor offering for vegetarians. Four of us had to settle on eggs as the only hot choice despite veggie options being advertised. One of our party is vegan and a request for oat or soya milk for her porridge (the only vegan option) was met with a blank “No. We don’t get any call for that” so she went without any at all! It’s 2025 not 1945.

Garden & Bar and restaurant were pleasant

Room was a bit dated, there was an intermittent noise from a generator or similar equipment all night, as the weather was quite hot we needed to keep the window open.

A lovely pub/hotel in a beautiful village. Staff were very friendly and we loved our room too. Food also excellent. We will definitely be back!

Nothing can't fault the place

I booked a superior room - it wasn’t! It was very small and I bumped my knee on the end of the bed - as there was hardly any room to move around and I still have a very painful knee now. The room had obviously been split into two - as we only had half a window! Also the shower needed the grouting change as it was black and cracked in places.

This is a very lovely historic building and as such is quaint and quirky (creaky floors and sticky windows) but that is all character. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the service very friendly and excellent. Breakfast choices a bit limited but very nicely done. A beautiful village to have a wander around. Would use it again as a convenient stopover.
