Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Carthage by IHG

I can always count on this location when coming to East Texas.

The front desk person upon check-in seemed bothered by something. She did ask what brought me into town, but then didn't say anything else after that. Also in my reservation it was stated that I (2) bed was preferred but yet I was booked into a King - she did correct this after I walked into the first room.

Breakfast was great, The room was perfect, roomy. The staff was great

Check in was for 3 pm we arrived at 430 our room was dirty. We had to wait for it to be cleaned. The ac was broke on the 3rd floor hallway where our room was. The toilet had issues the tv service was in and out the next day our room did not get cleaned until 6 pm and all i was tild was the manager would be in on monday after 11 and of course check out was 11

The facility is well maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. The tub fixtures in our room was showing wear and the shower flow, as in most hotels, is not much more than a mist. I was a little disappointed that the A/C had no was to force the fan to be in "continuous" mode, to help mask outside noise. Also, it seemed the the thermostat monitored movement and shut the A/C off when there was no movement in the room. I woke up hot a couple of times and move around and place my hand on the thermostat to cause the A/C to cycle back on. This is common at most newer hotels, so I did not rate this hotel significantly lower because of this.

Room was about to renovated and we were there for 4 days. When asked simply said we were full. Room had bugs and bathroom was dirty upon check in

The staff was very friendly.
