Powe House

Communal rooms are welcoming and fascinating! The grounds and location are stunning and the house full of charm and character. My room had all the facilities you would expect from a modern B&B, while maintaining the character of the rest of the house. The view of Skiddaw from the bed is an excellent way to start the day, while the bath was a great way to relax (and cool off in a heatwave!) after a day out walking. 😀

Powe House location was ideal, a short drive away from Whinlatter forest and 20 mins walk to Keswick with easy access to hiking trails such as Catbells. The place has only a few rooms which means it is quiet. The room was comfortable and had a bath. On site parking is a nice plus. Breakfast was included and was filling. Andrew, the owner, has also good tips about the area.

It would be nice to have a minifridge in the room. To be fair there is a shared one in the corridor, but I had packed a lot of snack and drinks. I think the price was fair since it included breakfast but I am always surprised how the Lake District prices are on the higher end especially on weekdays outside of school holidays.

Breakfast was lovely. A choice of different cereals and fruit and yogurt. A cooked breakfast was also available. The guest house was about a mile from Keswick. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and very spacious. Thankfully, it was quiet at night. The hosts were lovely. Very charming. There is a nice pub called the Farmer’s Arms a couple of minutes walk from Powe House which is worth visiting. It is best to book in advance.

The only thing I didn’t like was the high water pressure in the shower. This couldn’t be adjusted and the water almost stung when you stood under it. I had no other issues.

Breakfast was excellent, great parking. An easy walk into keswick and access to a66. Also the room was perfect for our needs and spotlessly clean.

We were given a great welcome. Facilities were excellent. There was a great range of tea and coffee and we were offered fresh milk. There was a good range of bathroom products. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold options. The lounge had good local information. The location was very good for many activities.

Our 2nd stay at Powe House. The room was spacious clean and comfortable with a lovely en-suite bathroom with power shower. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of choice. Hosts are congenial, helpful and welcoming. Lovely quiet setting, ample parking, 2 minute walk to the nearby pub which serves a decent variety of meals.

The location of the property was in a lovely setting and the property itself was very clean and comfortable. I love a good bed and Powe House provided one so I was very pleased. Breakfast was excellent and provided everything that I needed. People running the house where very friendly and couldn't do enough to make my stay a welcome one.
