The Farthings Guest House

What a lovely place. Very clean and everything in good order. Good location. About 15 minute walk from station and about same into central York. Bishey Street is a nice buzzy High Street and a Sainsbury's local on the corner. The breakfast was excellent. Fried eggs are a hard thing to do and they were always perfect. Mushrooms were so tasty. Helen, the proprietor, always has a smile on her face and is a delight to talk to. Just a word of caution, I was on the top floor which involved climbing a steep set of stairs. Not a problem for me but if you have any mobility issues, let Helen know and she'll do her best to get you into one of the ground floor rooms. Also, you will be sent instructions on how to get your room key. Make sure you read them before you arrive. They are clear and concise. Helen is very proud of her establishment and she has every right to be so.

First time in york and best hotel I've ever been to in my times of travelling. The staff at the Farthings are absolutely lovely who did a fantastic job on making sure your doing well. The staff will talk to you not just to be nice or doing it because of their job but they fully care as they put in the real kindness and care with real conversations about anything they are the friendliest people I've ever met and truly down to earth. I would recommend anyone to come to the Farthings guest house. Your not far from the city centre a good 15-20 mins which is ideal of you want piece and quiet for the night time and it's a lovely walk where you can see everything as you go into town (Perfect location) When I am going back to York again I would definitely be choosing The Farthings Guest House again

Lovely Guest House within easy walking distance of both city centre and race course. Local amenities superb with good choice of pubs and restaurants. Room clean and comfortable, breakfast very nice, staff attentive and locally knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

Owner and staff were friendly. Breakfast was amazing, best bacon and sausage in a full English I have tasted for a long time. A nice 15 minute walk into town and the same to the train station, so perfectly located. We stayed 4 nights in June when the weather was hot ~ 27° during the day. Our room was on the 2nd floor and was very hot when we retired at night, we were given a fan which didn't help much. Also we had to share a single bathroom which was problematic having to wait for the shower in the morning.

The Farthings is nicely situated off a main road. because there is only ' on street ' parking, the proprietors sort out parking permits. The room was clean and welcoming. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfasts were always nicely cooked and well presented. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and were sorry to leave. This is a very good Guest House.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Farthings! It's a little outside the main part of York, but still a short walk (~15 to 20 mins) to the Minster, the Shambles, and other areas. Still highly convenient. Breakfasts were great, and Helen was quick to give advice and tips on what to do if anyone asked!

Very good budget hotel Helen and staff I met were lovely for 110 for 2 nights with breakfast on York races weekend you couldn't get better Definitely visiting again when visit York races again

Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Had to share a bathroom and beds were very uncomfortable and outdated old bedding.

The property was very homey and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The only criticism I'd have is that the internet was not very fast and was unstable at times.
