"Overall the experience was good but there was still a "but" feeling about it."

The location was good, approximately 25 minute walk into Funchal. The staff could not have been more friendly. The breakfast buffet was particularly good, in my opinion. And there was a good range of drinks at the bar and plenty of room at the pool and other shared facilities.

The hotel felt a little dated and in need of a refurbishment or uplift. It was quite dark in places, and gave off "business hotel" vibes. The dinner buffet was also disappointing on the two occassions we tried it.

Enjoyed our stay here for a few days and overall very few complaints. Our major one was the quality of food on the breakfast buffet. Food was plentiful and service very good but the quality of the food was not very good. It is a large hotel with classic continental breakfast and some hot items. After 3 days we were ready to not eat there anymore. Our room was excellent and very large.
