True Lovers Knot

The location and building were great with plenty of on site parking . We had our own main door key to one of the 4 rooms with a key to that on also as we would be coming in late was very handy . We stayed in room 1 with a four poster bed it was very comfortable. The room was fairly big and so was the bathroom . We were told to help ourselves to breakfast on the morning ( toast,cereal,etc ) we didn’t expect this so it was a surprise. Only saw one member of staff when we checked on and he was very polite.

Friendly bar staff.

Location was very noisy. Bed falling apart. Towels stained. Stale croissants self service breakfast left in alcove at bottom of stairs. Don't expect your bed to be made, towels changed or room cleaned unless you stay 4 nights or more. Although we were not made aware of this on check in. The poor guy was run off his feet and seemed to have to do everything. What I don't understand is why our room was cleaned the first day then day 2 when it wasn't I queried it with an older female member of staff who was most indignant that I should expect this service despite in the room information book it tells you to leave dirty towels you want changing in the shower. She felt her time was better spent socialising with customers in the bar. Luckily we were only using it as a base. The bar food was good, but the deal included breakfast really wasn't worth having.The bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was loose, the rain shower just trickled water and the drain was blocked so water didn't run away. Only really a ** star property.

Really friendly and welcoming at the pub Jess and the team are great and go the extra mile for you . Be back again .

Just bed mattress

Have stayed here a number of times and never had a bad stay. Would recommend and will be returning in the future

The staff were amazing. They were all very friendly & extremely helpful. The food was outstanding! 5* chef & bar staff. It was very easy to pre book a table for a pre wedding meal with our daughter & friends before her wedding day. Our room attendant, Cery's, was very friendly. I was able to bring my own mini fridge to keep my medication in as there wasn't a mini fridge in the room. The view over the fields was lovely. There was a nice size beer garden. The pub managers dog was super sweet & friendly.

When we checked into the pub & was shown to our room, number 1, the room hadn't been cleaned or prepared for us from the previous guest! Dirty bed still unchanged, etc! We were really shocked & not what we expected at all. When I complained to the bar person, we were shown to another room, number 3, which luckily had been cleaned. However, I was really shocked to find it did not have a basic wardrobe to hang our wedding clothes. Just 4 hooks on a wall. To say we was upset was an understatement as this is a basic requirement in the majority of pub or hotels in my eyes for £285. We had to hang our wedding clothes on the curtain pole, which we definitely was not happy about doing. Luckily, it was strong enough. There was no plug socket by the dressing table & mirror, so we had to buy an extension lead & plug it into the plug socket near the TV, just so i could dry & straighten my hair during the whole stay. The furniture was quite old & could have been updated at some point. The bathroom ceiling had a large damaged area by the door, which had been very poorly patched up. If we had been able to have got a good wifi signal, we would have logged straight back into Booking.com & searched for another property. Unfortunately we couldn't, so we had no option but to stay where we were. We had booked our stay at this pub as our daughter was getting married & the pub was quite central to the wedding venue. We also were quite shocked that the 'breakfast' area was a shelf at the bottom of the stairs which held breakfast cereal boxes, a bread bin with bread & a few croissants, a toaster, 2 coffee machines with pods, breakfast bars, a small fridge with some milk, yogurts, juice cartons, cutlery and napkins & some jam etc & butter in a bowl. There was nowhere to heat the croissants, so I had to look for someone to ask where they could be heated.

Friendly staff - food portions good

Accommodation substandard, not as advertised, overpriced, not clean, room problematic if tall. Bed springs felt through mattress. Uncomfortable nights sleep. Non sheets. Tv not functioning, hairdryer missing, lights didn’t work, cups were dirty and stained. Breakfast not as expected - choice of cereals in a box on way out.

There’s not enough word to praise Hugo and his help and support in working with us to find travel options as we were stuck because of a strike. We appreciated his warm welcome at check in and his patience to not leave us without a sound and safe plan to go back home!

The staff were really welcoming, and l liked the rural area, it was relaxing to sit by the open window. The bedroom and shower were large with lots of character and shower was excellent. Breakfast with cereals and croissants are included.

The only thing was the bed....it was soft but wasn't very supportive. Husband and l woke each other turning over and it made my sore back worse.
