Very enjoyable, helpful staff, pub had great meals

Friendly, helpful staff, nice bar, we loved our room it was geogeous, great view, big, and all the little touches so helpful. It is rare for us to stay in accommodation where there are enough mirrors and even a digital clock!

needed to stay close to A38 and this was just right.

Unfriendly personnel including the owner. "Nice" view from bedroom into the pub toilet. Room not serviced due to "time reasons". Beds almost falling apart. The place is rated ****. Even one star would be too much of an honour.

2nd visit to this place and had the same room nice four poster bed large room with en suite cleaned daily the hotel is old with decor to match but has a lovely feel to it staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food at this place is just amazing I'm sure we will be back

Very friendly people, food excellent

We booked a three night stay at this 14th century Coaching Inn, to explore Dartmoor. What a good choice. The Packhorse Inn is located in the village of South Brent with its rooms all decorated in traditional style (ours having a very comfortable four poster bed). It has a very good food menu and a good size bar offering traditional and real ales. The locals are very welcoming and included us in their activities and conversations. The village has a beautiful walk around its perimeter through the woods and following the river, which takes about three quarters of an hour. It was a pleasure to come back to each evening after our daily sightseeing on the moors. If you want a modern plastic hotel this is not for you.

The Pack Horse is a nice PH. However the room I stayed in had a number of problems. The room smelled of drains due to the toilet not flushing properly. You couldn't open the window due to noisy fans just outside the window. Didn't get any milk on the second day to make tea. The pub food was awful and didn't resemble the menu. Breakfast is at 8.30am which is too late if you're there on business plus there is no information in the room about times for check out etc. Room itself was nice with comfortable bed.

Best fish and chips I've ever had! And breakfast was great. Room was fine, all staff helpful, nice atmosphere in bar. Room was ok (pretty large). Poor wifi in room but fine in bar area, TV in room very small. Overall satisfied and it served it's purpose. Would happily stay there again.

Lovely comfortable place with a good breakfast. Ideal for us visiting family in the area.
