Port Stephens Motel

Location is fine

The bed was wonky and the mattress thin. There were cockroaches running around the bathroom. The hand cream dispenser was empty and the basin dirty. The floor waste in the bathroom was dirty and there were hairs hanging about on it. The towel rail was dusty. Positive aspects are the ease of access to the room via a code and the undercover parking plus proximity to facilities in Nelson Bay and it’s quiet without traffic or other noise.

Overall it is very unkept, staircase to upstairs is very grotty, wasnt game to hold onto the handrail to assist getting upstairs as it was very filthy, walkway to top rooms unkept, needs replacing being carpet type flooring and obviously doesn’t handle long term wet weather, the rooms were clean and tidy but very worn out, cupboards peeling or breaking away, deteriorating due to age, definately needs an overhaul for the price we payed, $235 for a night, which I’d be happy to pay if it was in better condition, the next night we stayed at the Central Motel just up the road for $175 for a night and it was in way better condition and in a much more central area to shops, restaurants etc I will mention though the Lady in Reception was very polite, pleasant and helpful and the cleaner was also very polite

It is an old motel as are most motels here. The shower water pressure and hot water were very poor in both our rooms at 9 pm and 4 am.

The pool was great however the pool gate is faulty and does not lock.

No water when we arrived. No hot water next morning. Room dirty. Bathroom dirty. Shower tiles and walls full of mould. Shower curtain filthy & mouldy. Deadlock chain on door broken. Faulty lock on balcony door. Rotting wood on balcony separation screen. Bins kept near room creating an overwhelming stench. 4 old pods of milk. Sugar had water damage and solid.

Room was clean and tidy. The Cleaner on site was very personable and helpful. Location to town and beach was great. The pool was very clean and refreshing.

The Balcony railing and timber slates were covered in green moss. The advertised BBQ facilities were not usable. The BBQ was in pieces and area was a tip. There were 2 pool lounges which were broken and rusted.
