Lovely and quirky with big room and a freestanding bath. Nice touch with the history of family in the hotel book and everyone was really lovely. Breakfast also fab.

Love how quirky it is. Very warm comfortable. Unusual. Lovely warm fire to sit by. Little curiosity shop with nice items. All prices. Very near Alnwick castle / gardens / village etc.

"Don’t recommend-"

The room was so tiny you had trouble moving around the bed, and not very private as it’s just a few slim glass doors in a circular shape that cuts into the room with just a curtain out into the corridor of other rooms that are above. No window at all. Just a weird set up altogether. Have to sit at a big table with other guests for breakfast. Very old and needs attention with maintenance

A wonderful hard working couple, the rooms are quirky but clean. The dedication and love they have put into rebuilding this ruin is amazing. The breakfast was wonderful with homemade jam and the resident's lounge with an amazing log burner gave us a chance too meet some wonderful people

I live in the country, so getting used t the A1 being close by difficult, however courtyard layout did make a difference
