Nith Riverside Cottages

Blackaddie is a beautiful building, with a sophisticated interior and gorgeous food in a lovely place. Where it needs to improve is in communication with guests-I was staying there alone and I was locked out one night. The owner came quickly but I had no knowledge of this. I was actually really upset at the time and after about it. It scared me. My room was small as expected for the price and nicely done out but it lacked amenities. In the beverages offered, and also things like an iron and hairdryer. I enjoyed the Elemis products but they weren’t replaced and my bed was neither made, nor serviced properly for cups. I had a cup of tea in the same cup the next again day. The best thing about Blackaddie is the house, the dining room, the bar and the food. When I asked for things they were given to me but wifi access was not visible in the room. When I asked, I was told it was there. It wasn’t. Unfortunately, the bed was also uncomfortable. I think it has all the potential but with my experience it is not currently 4 stars, and this is what I was expecting.

Lovely setting

We booked a cottage with two bedrooms, which was confirmed by hotel in an email. In arrival we were informed that party of four happened to booked it at exactly the same time! What a coincidence! It turned out the hotel had to give us each a double room in the main building. I believe we were bumped due to our numbers!

We booked the river suite which was a fantastic big space , including a good sized bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. It had a lovely view over the river. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were clean and practical. Comfortable bed. Evening meal in the restaurant was fine.

TV reception poor. I didn't realize it had full self catering facilities and didn't need to book breakfast at £20 per head. Skirting boards, windows and some walls could do with a spring clean.

Lovely place with everything you need to go self catering with a dog. We dined in the bar not restaurant , molly who served us was brilliant very attentive and made us feel welcome the food was on point. We stayed at the riverside lodge.

Great location near the river. Historic home that was very comfortable. The meals were of a high quality using ingredients from their extensive garden
