Castle of Comfort Hotel & Restaurant

Wonderful hotel, with pool and lovely gardens and great views over the countryside and sea. Service was good, friendly staff; drinks and afternoon tea by the pool was no problem. Excellent breakfast.

The hotel itself was very good and the service was excellent. Our room, No. 8, was on the back, well away from the road (probably a good thing because the A39 is very busy) and was large and comfortable. Both the bed and the bathroom were also large and the linens, towels and toiletries were all good quality. The sherry, peanuts and biscuits left along with the tea and coffee were a very nice touch. The breakfast was good and there was a wide choice. Our only disappointment was the meal we ate in the restaurant on our first night. We chose the "2 courses for £24" option and whilst the 2 starters were OK, the vegetable selection for the main course (boiled potatoes, carrots, cabbage and cucumber!!) was very bland, uninspiring and watery and my rack of lamb amounted to about 4 mouthfuls! Fortunately we had alternative dining plans for our 2nd night. On the whole though, this is a good hotel and I would certainly return.

Arrived late & left early, but my stay was great. Was warmly welcomed on arrival by the host and although I was the only guest, they sorted me a breakfast sandwich for my early departure. Room and facilities 👍 Would be a lovely place to spend some time after lockdown when all the facilities are available. Would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area 😁

A real country house hotel in the best tradition. Comfort and food were super and the staff were outstanding.

We stayed here on our way home from Cornwall with our dog and what an amazing place. The location is nice and peaceful, the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and the swimming pool was a great addition as we had the sun out whilst we were there also the daily refill of the sherry decanter was a lovey touch. We would definitely return here.

Great food comfortable room
