Hotel City Villach

The hotel is opposite the train station, about a 10 minute walk from the town centre. The room was small but comfortable and clean.

Great hotel, perfect for us as we needed to catch the early train in the morning and its across the road from the train station. Really friendly service, clean and comfortable room and delicious breakfast! What more could you ask for!

Good room size, staff look after you

It was very hot the days we were there. We had only one small window, looking out at a black flat roof radiating heat, and no AC. There were no amenities. So, we went to the store and bought conditioner, as there was liquid soap in the shower. The second day, my husband mentioned to the desk that the room was very hot. She said we could have air-conditioning for another 9 euros a day. In a hotel where the rate was very high, that was really unbelievable . On the third day, I read the hotel booklet, and it said, if you need amenities, you can ask the hotel desk, and they will give you some. At these hotel rates, we thought the price for electricity, and trying to avoid amenities was out of character. The only high point was a fabulous breakfast, possibly the best we have ever had.

No air condition

Blackout curtains didn’t reach far enough to cover all of the window.

We didn't realize the hotel didn't have air conditioning. This may not be needed in Villach, Austria usually, but we visited during a heat wave. Staff supplied a fan, but we were still uncomfortable. Breakfast was very good.

Loved this hotel! Perfect location, right across from the train station. Multiple cafes, a market, and restaurants within the block where the hotel is located. It is an easy walk into the village, which is BEAUTIFUL, and to the running/biking trails next to the Drava River. The hotel was clean, efficient (use of space), the air con worked GREAT (a must for us), and the breakfast was delicious and substantial. The beds were super comfortable. The staff was amazing - so helpful and cheerful and GENUINE. We initially viewed this trip as merely a "stopover" with little expectations, but now want to return because the hotel was just perfectly situated and we became enchanted with the town itself.
