Amaya Lake Dambulla

The people working at the hotel are very friendly and hospitable, and the service overall is great. Because the hotel is so big, there are golf carts available to pick you up and take you to your room, which is convenient. Breakfast is a large buffet with a good selection of pastries and savoury options, as well as freshly made eggs and waffles. The hotel itself is a little dated, but the rooms are extremely spacious, the biggest we stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka, with a walk-in wardrobe and plenty of space in both the bathroom and living area. There is air conditioning as well as ceiling fans, which I really appreciated as I like having the option to cool the room without using AC. Overall, we did enjoy our stay.

The hotel is very large, and personally I prefer smaller, boutique-style hotels with fewer rooms. Although everyone is very friendly and helpful, the size of the hotel makes the experience feel less personal. The location is quite secluded, making it difficult to get into town, so there are limited options for eating outside the hotel. In the evenings, the hotel mainly offers a buffet. This is a personal preference, but I am not a fan of buffets as I often find the food quality does not justify the price, especially since I do not eat large portions. Because the à la carte options were quite limited, we chose the buffet one evening and immediately regretted it. Expanding the à la carte menu would be a big improvement, something I had already seen mentioned in other reviews and fully agree with. Another downside was the limited number of golf carts available. Our room was quite far from the main areas and it rained a lot during our stay, which meant we sometimes had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to be picked up. If umbrellas had been available in the room, we would have walked. It was also surprising to see guests staying very close to the lobby and dining areas using the golf carts instead of walking, which likely contributed to the longer waiting times.

We had a lovely stay at Amaya Lake. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel truly comfortable. especial thanks to Raini and Imalka for their kindness and great support throughout our stay. the free wifi speed was very good. overall, it was a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back and highly recommended this hotel.

Nothing Special

Staff are wonderful and very attentive, especially during food service. The spa was great! Very relaxing. The location is very tranquil by the lake.

Rooms were tiny. The bed was two small single beds with nothing to make where they meet comfortable. The beds were uncomfortable. The bathroom was below average, old and run down, everything getting wet.

The hotel is in a beautiful park with a nice lake that you can walk to, a lot of space around in the nature and rooms in nice little houses . Beautiful pools overlooking the lake and lights on big trees around

The rooms are nice but outdated and damp, need a renewal
