Friendly and informative staff. After 4PM they offer free waffles (you have to cook your own) plus jam and sour cream. Free coffee and tea are available all the time.

The hotel is convenient for the City Centre, the airport bus stops nearby and the Hurtigruten Ferry terminal is a short walk away,the hotel staff are welcoming, fresh coffee available in the foyer 24hrs a day, the room was comfortable and well equipped the included breakfast was the usual nordic meal with Salmon Meats cheese and fruit, the Hotel receptionist helped with online flight check in and boarding pass print out, would recommend this Friendly hotel when visiting Tromso

A good clean hotel. Room was a little small but clean and comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly and location around 5 mins from centre - preferred to larger more impersonal hotels in centre. Liked the free tea and coffee and waffles in lobby.

The room was clean, the staff nice. My only complaint is that the maid service doesn't tidy up, only changed out the towels. I stayed 5 nights and could have used a little tidying up, like in most North American hotels. I don't know what the Norwegian standard is. Otherwise, perfectly suitable.

I often visit Tromsø, but this is the first time I stayed at this hotel. It was a real pleasure. Everything was tidy, the staff was great, and the waffles and coffee in the reception area was a great bonus. The location is perfect and the nights I spent there the neighbourhood appeared to be absolutely quiet, which is not the case everywhere in Tromsø. The only somewhat critical remark is the breakfast room; I felt it a bit crowded at times, but considering the size of the room it is difficult to see how it can be improved.

The Viking Hotel was a great base for our trip to see the Northern Lights. They were an unforgettable experience, but Tromso has much to enjoy besides, including a cable car ride to a fabulous viewpoint 402metres above the town. The Tromso museum was worth going to, but closes at 3pm. The arctic cathedral is best seen after dark from the outside, when the colours of the stained glass glow brilliantly. Beware it is very expensive to eat out, but we enjoyed everywhere we tried. Best value was the cafe of the 4 Roses (downstairs rather than the restaurant upstairs)

Hotel is situated centrally in the centre and is within walking distance from everything. Staff were friendly and helpful!

The staff at the Viking Hotel, and ABC- their cheaper no-frills sister hotel- are excellent. They are friendly and efficient, and are always available to help, give information, &/or resolve any issue. The idea of free evening waffles might sound a little strange, but it is a lovely touch, and it; a great way to meet staff and other guests if you are new. breakfast was varied and good. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained.

Although this hotel has a rather poor rating (as of our stay) we booked here as it was the cheapest hotel in Tromso and we were only staying one night. We were, however, very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were modern and very comfortable, the hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful, and the buffet breakfast was nice and varied. The rooms may have been recently refurbished. The hotel is in the centre of the town not far from the docks, and a shortish taxi journey from the airport. All in all, it was an excellent stay at the end of our holiday and we would happily stay there again.
