The Cabarfeidh Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and used it to tour the island Lewis and Harris. It has large free parking and is located near the golf course and castle Lews grounds. Rooms are comfortable, a lot of care has been given to the decoration. The breakfast is served in the restaurant, choice at the buffet is good. Pancakes a la carte are freshly made, a major plus for me ! You can walk into the center of Stornoway in 15 - 20 minutes, via the main road or the park (better option as much as nicer and not longer). The building is maybe not the most attractive, it is a nice clean hotel, pleasant to stay at, with friendly staff.

easy walk to the town centre. Staff very friendly. Excellent choices for both breakfast and dinner. A good location to visit both north and south of the island.

The staff, the food

We stayed for three night as part of a coach tour of the Outer Hebrides and can't really fault this hotel. It's quite expensive as prices start at around £290 per room during September. All the staff were really friendly, the food was a good quality although some of the vegetarians weren't impressed with the repeated use of squash and courgette, and the bars were well stocked. There is a large seating area in the reception area plus toilets on the ground floor. Our room was comfortable but the view (see photo) wasn't pretty. We had a over-bath shower that would be tricky for someone less mobile (as happened to one of our party), but the beds were comfy and there was plenty of room for our bags/clothes. Access to the town is a fairly straightforward 15-20 walk which I would suggest as parking in the town can be tricky, especially in high summer.
