Grange Hotel

Buffet breakfast ok but prefer table service especially in 4 star hotel.

Bedroom had no full length mirror and dressing table mirror to high if sitting on chair to dry hair. No facecloths provided. Shower only small with half door so water soaked bath mat.

Excellent dinner and breakfast.

Bathroom was a problem. A very tiny washbasin, OK for a cloakroom but not for a bathroom. No shelves to put things (eg toothbrush etc) on; and having a glass (or glasses) in a bathroom is always good.

Bedroom was very comfortable and clean. As it was at the top corner room 229, was extremely hot. Also lack of parking was an issue, after returning from a day out, almost impossible to find a parking space. Good stay

⭐ Outstanding Stay at The Grange Hotel – A Special Thank You to Melissa My wife Andrea and I stayed at this beautiful hotel over the weekend for her birthday, and from start to finish the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel itself is stunning — peaceful surroundings, beautifully kept grounds, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout. Our room was spotless, and the mattress and pillows were unbelievably comfortable. Every member of staff we encountered was polite, friendly, and genuinely helpful. A huge thank you to the reception team for going above and beyond with Andrea’s birthday surprise. We originally arranged it for the Friday, but due to a change of plans we needed it moved to the Saturday — her actual birthday. The team handled this last‑minute change effortlessly. The rose petals, towel swans and overall presentation were perfect, and it made Andrea’s day truly special. 🌟 A Special Mention for Melissa Melissa is an absolute jewel of The Grange Hotel. Her customer service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. She greeted us with a constant smile, genuine warmth, and a level of care that made us feel truly valued. She consistently went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect, and her positive energy made a real difference to our experience. Staff like Melissa are rare — she is a credit to the hotel and deserves recognition for her exceptional service. We will definitely return when visiting the Lakes again. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay memorable, and an extra special thank you to Melissa for making it exceptional.

Leaving

The spa is so rundown its unbelievable. They have hidden cameras in the spa area overlooking the hot tub, which was dangerously over chlorinated. What wasn't clean and filled with bacteria. Very unsafe for anyone to use. The steam room is like a 1980s tiled cupboard with a cheap led broken light. The sauna was a hot grave with no light and it was so claustrophobic, we didnt even enter. The changing rooms are so run down its unbelievable. The gym is on a whole new level of complete run down, I dont even think a bin man would take them away for free. Sink is falling off the wall, hole in the ceiling and another daft cupboard with 1960s workout equipment. Truly shocking. I paid £685 for two nights that included "breakfast" but dont be fooled. We paid £40 each per night for breakfast and honeslty they had the cheapest cooked breakfast and some rubbish sides. Although they had alcarte menu, which was an additional cost !!! Unbelievable. The room was dirty, bed was all hairs, they done a room change and never changed the bedding rehung the dirty towels and left rubbish. Not what you expect for nearly £700!. The sofa is all stained the windows are absolutely disgusting, there was fecal matter on the outside of the bath. Taps and shower heads and toilet bit on dont think they have ever been cleaned. They lock the door after 12pm, like a ghost town. Very strange place. We had the 2nd best room and definitely wasn't worth it. No fridge, no ice, no glasses, no nothing, no mirror at the dressing table, outdoor area completely dilapidated, bathroom dirty. Basic basic basic. Silly auto light that blind u in the bathroom in the middle of the night because u cant turn them off.

Breakfast was excellent. Evening bar food was good too. Location close to Grange Promenade was good

View of the Bay from our room was hidden by trees. Could the authorities relent a little and allow selective pruning so that 1st floor bedrooms all get a view?. That was no doubt the intention of the original architect and owner. Tree preservation orders should not be rigidly and blindly enforced to the detriment of all other beneficial factors..

I stayed at this beautiful Hotel at the weekend as my daughter and son were taking place in the Great North Swim Run Windermere. Hotel and surroundings are beautiful, the rooms were clean and the mattress and pillows were soooo comfy. Staff were very polite and so helpful. I would definitely come back to stay if I’m in the Lakes. Sharon on reception needs a mention as she found out about my jacket I’d left behind in my room and dealt with the return pront. Thanks to all the staff though
