JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa

Overall, everything was excellent. However, our suite was located near the entrance on a lower level, and the sound insulation could be improved, as we frequently heard noise from guests entering and exiting the building.

This resort is a true gem in the Musloka Lakes area! The building is spectacular and huge. Staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive to their guests. The place is superbly maintained and perfectly clean. Modern bathrooms and facilities. Lots of fun things for kids. Great restaurants, bar, spa facilities, pools, beach, and on site boat tour, paddle boards, seadoo rentals, and other water sports. Of our 50+ years of travel, the manager (Didier Dolivet) demonstrated the finest level of care for staff and guests. Go. Enjoy!

We had 3 rooms and 2 of them were connected. On our second night, we found a mouse in one of the connecting rooms. All our food was out in the open, so we had to dispose of it. It took 3 calls and 45 minutes for front staff to send someone up to the rooms, by which time we had already caught the mouse. To make matters worse, the maintenance staff walked out of the room thinking that they had the mouse. They didn't, and the mouse was still in the room. We made a view of the whole fiasco. Our parents were not comfortable sleeping in the room and neither were we. Unfortunately, they could only offer us 1 alternate room and our parents had to sleep in the same room, because they were at full capacity. Instead of the night being relaxing, and the family enjoying the sights, and the adults hoping to head out for a night out while the grandparents watched the kids, the grandparents had to sleep in the same room, and the kids didn't get to bed till midnight because of the whole fiasco. To add to this, 2 kids + 2 adults had to sleep on 1 king bed because the rollaway bed was not fit for sleeping (we initially had 2 queens). This also ruined the next morning due the late night before. This wasn't the worst of it. We were looking for a mutual resolution and the senior staff kept haggling with us for what should have been a straight resolution - comp us back for the 1 night for the 2 impacted rooms. The senior staff also had an attitude problem and kept trying to trivialize the whole incident. We wasted almost 2 hours in the morning to get to a mutually acceptable resolution, but in the end had to leave, because of the elderly grandparents and the kids. The whole experience was ruined because JW Marriot, which touts itself for an elevated "experience", completely disregard how our yearly family trip was ruined. Things happen and sometimes you cannot do anything about the event itself, however, what matters is, what can be done to make it right.

While staff were pleasant they are not all competent. Reception spent 10mins with us and did not actually check us in, lost track of our luggage and it took until 7pm and several calls to get our stuff. Restaurant service is extremely slow.
