"Great Family mini vacation"

8.0

Nice Family weekend, we stayed for 3 nights and 2 full days. Our sons are 13 and 15 so likely the review will reflect that. If you children are younger, my suggestion is Deerhurst which is easier to climb (literally...the stairs from hotel to beach here are steep and numerous and the shuttle is infrequent!). Deerhurst also seemed to have more activities for little ones (for reference we've done Deerhurst at least 3 times, 1st time here). The resort was not overly busy, the water sports fairly available. There's quite a variety (wake boarding, water skiing, tubing, jet ski) but prepare to pay...LOTS. $380 per hr, jet ski 250$/hr. So needless to say, expect to spend at least an extra 1000$ on activities alone. Especially if you have teens! Rooms...hmm. Spacious, "good enough" but I would echo others' comments about the service. Non existent pretty much! Thank goodness for a decent kitchenette, so if you're ok with cooking on vacation, you can easily make breakfast and snacks in the room, lunch/dinner out (this is what we did). Otherwise you're looking at 150-200$ minimum per meal per family of 4 and that's on the low side. Foodland (grocery store) is 14 minutes away however for fresh fruit/snacks, etc. Pricing aside, the views are gorgeous, the resort provides all the essentials, and the overall clientele reflects all of the above. Would come back!

"Pretty awful and not worth the exorbitant prices"

4.0

I will write a detailed review after day 2 however day 1 has been a disaster on many levels- and this happens consistently at this resort. There is one standout employee who merits mention his name is Carson and he works at the mid level outdoor bar. From the minute I sat down with my son he went out of his way to make us feel welcome, appreciated and like VIPs. He treated us like family! This guy should be running the whole place! I’ve not seen such exceptional customer service in years!!

"Unclean room, poor housekeeping, poor follow up service"

4.0

After checking in we found Reese peanut butter cups on the couch and under the bed. Gross but whatever, we weren't going to make a fuss. And then, today, AFTER sleeping in one of the beds, found a dry (like days old) bloodstain on one of the sheets. I have a pic but don't feel it's necessary to horrify readers. What's worse about this discovery is that after telling the front desk (they offered a $100 credit...) and asking them to change the sheets ASAP, nobody came for hours. They're still not here. If a guest told you there was blood on their bedsheets wouldn't it be an immediate priority to make it right? I've had the "make up room" sign on the door for hours and it's almost 3 pm. The staff seem nice but there's no looking past this, especially given how expensive everything is ($15 beer, $10 for a juice and a coffee, $25 cocktails).

"AMAZING Spa Day"

10.0

Spent a day at the Hydrospa for my birthday, it was a wonderful experience. From the start the staff were great. Ruchi, Sierra, Anna, and Ivel were all top notch! Ruchi went above and beyond beyond to make our time at the spa wonderful, she even made a little gift for me! The treatments were phenomenal. The massage chairs were exactly what we needed when we arrived. The oxygen bar was fun to try out and the salt room was so peaceful. We laid out by the pool and enjoyed the sunshine under the umbrellas. Had some snacks that were provided and had a wonderful day. Thank you for making our experience one for the books!

"A Disappointing Visit"

6.0

We stayed for two nights at the JW Rosseau in mid-August, while attending a near-by family reunion. We had stayed here several times before and we were excited to return. We started our mini-vacation with a round of golf at the picturesque and challenging golf course, The Rock. My advice is to bring lots of balls and your camera. The hotel check-in process was busy, with many impatient travellers anxious to get their vacations started. We got our room 30 minutes after the promised check-in time. Our lake-view room in the Paighton House wing was surprisingly dated and the furniture looked like it belonged in a rustic cottage. The bed groaned and shifted each time we entered it, several years past its best before date. The view of Lake Rosseau from our room was spectacular. We hosted a party of ten adults at The Chophouse restaurant and enjoyed a good meal in the busy and expensive restaurant, that was surprisingly full of children. At the peak of the summer, this resort was full of young families there to enjoy the amenities. The next morning we looked forward to eating our breakfast on the restaurant's outdoor patio with tremendous views. Unfortunately, the restaurant has a huge problem with wasps, making it impossible to sit outside. The indoor breakfast area is bland and uninspired. After a full day away at a near-by cottage, we returned to our room to find that housekeeping had not been there. The housekeeping staff had left for the night, so a paper bag of clean towels was delivered, along with two drink tickets for our inconvenience. Certainly not the service that we expected when paying $1000 per night for a regular room. We headed up the steep staircase to listen to the live music and enjoy our free drinks. My husband went to the bar, handed over the drink tickets and requested a glass of Chardonnay and a Scotch. While enjoying our drinks on a beautiful evening, one of the managers came over and demanded payment for the Scotch, that turned out to be a premium variety. Apparently we hadn't read the fine print on the drink ticket and the bartender had taken it upon himself to serve a premium Scotch. A lengthy discussion ensued. We enjoyed massages at the spa and wished that we had more time to enjoy the facilities, especially the adults only spa pool. Overall, we were disappointed in our lack-lustre room, non-existent house keeping services (no turn down service as well) and the breakfast patio with wasps. That all said, there were many families who looked like they were greatly enjoying pools and waterfront. Maybe it just isn't the spot for us!

"Beautiful location not a luxury hotel"

6.0

We stayed few nights in August for a fsmily getaway, overwll a nice experience due to the lake front and several pools to enjoy, hotel offers several activities, service was OK, rooms were clean with small maintenance details, recommended for s few nights stays but please note this is not a luxury hotel nor provide luxury service for the price you pay, reception was not responsive and they seem to be understaffed at moments. Restaurants were good, and some facilities can benefit from some improvements i.e. pool table and common areas
