Hotel - Residence La Residenza

We arrived on a sunday and there was no reception and the door to the hotel was locked. We dialed the intercom at the door many times and got no answer. Called an emergency number and only after some long minutes on the line we could get in as a couple was coming out, then got instructions to get the keys in the desk. It is ok not to have reception service all the time, but we wish we would have been warned about it when making the reservation and got some kind of instructions on how to get in, instead of spending 20min outside the door with all our bags on a very hot sunny day.

The hotel is okay, but far from the city center and hard to find location.

The let us stay in front of the hotel for 1 hour!!! We told them our time of arrival but they don't have a reception. You have to ring a bell and it doesn't work. you have to communicate with a telephone voice who is not physically present at the hotel. NEVER AGAIN room was nice though

So close to the station and shopping yet in a quiet location. My "suite" was on the third floor. Comprised a bedroom, sitting/dining room/ small kitchen with stove top.(both rooms with balconies) and a small but adequate bathroom. I thought it was good value. Don't expect a decent breakfast, although there were fresh pastries. There is not 24 hour reception and not a lot of english is spoken but the staff are very helpful when they are there. My room was clean and well maintained.

We stayed in the double bedroom apartment. It was fine, but no outside space (there was a terrace in another block but the key didn't work) and no sofas, so not ideal to relax. Breakfast is free from a local bar, but it's quite a walk out of town and we didn't bother after the first day. It was well kitted out though - very useful to have a washing machine and the kitchen was well stocked.

Nice location for a short trip to Messina.Room fine and promised. Livingroom with coocking premesies and separate bedroom - so nice - I like space! Short access from train station. I had late arrival because the trains were really booked and I couldn´t have the fast train from Amalfi. And it takes its time to get in ferry from mainland to Sicily :) But anycase - the matron was nice to give me a call, when I arrived. Not speaking english but I went this 1 km with taxi and the driver and matron sorted me in to the hotel. --> You press the night ward button, say that you are staying there, you get buzzed in and there is key card for your room in the lobby waiting for late arrivals. After 7 pm, Italian time. I did payed extra for balcony, but when I got to the room there was information not to enter to balcony. And that was in italian :). But I did have my roomy space and self made tea for breakfast - so nice :). And I must say that southern Italians and Sicilians are so friendly, thanks!

We arrived at the hotel around 10 pm, the doors were locked, nobody at the reception. Eventually we got the key to our room, but it was a lausy experience

We left as there was no staff to assist us and no one to take our passport details which is illegal in Italy

This is kind of student resident in a great location. I found it very clean and staff was so helpful. Rooms on the top floor are excellent because they got a nice terrace, perfect to enjoy nice weather. Rooms are quite spacious for families and group of friends, they also got a small kitchen in case you want to save some money.
