The Garrison Hotel

Although the property looks rather old fashioned, the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff more than compensate. The rooms are warm and, although the decor is rather dated, there is nothing wrong with them. It is a good location if you want to use the tram or bus to get into the centre of Sheffield. Breakfast is basic but OK. Don’t expect luxury but enjoy the warm welcome.

To be completely honest I was expecting a higher standard for the money paid. Had i booked this hotel for a weeknight or sunday night it was nearly half the price it was for a Saturday but sadly this is when it was needed. I think it is worth the weekday price but not the Saturday price. Good points first The room was in a quiet location and was a very good size. Bed was comfortable and extra pillows were available in the room. Water was hot. Plenty of hanging and storage space. Heating with thermostats so could be hotter or colder to your taste. And the bits which could be improved:- Sqeaky floorboards in room above. Lighting was quite dim despite there being lots of lighting options, lamps etc. Bathroom floor looked dirty, i'm sure it was probably clean but had lots of dark areas making it look dirty. The silicone round the bath had a large gap round it between bath and wall and the bath was small. Shampoo/conditioner positioned too high on wall for access whilst in the bath. Tea tray was standard but would have been nice to have a biscuit. Breakfast was standard. Full yorkshire only had 1 bacon and 1 sausage and not asked if more was required. Pastries were croissants and small pain au chocolat. Menu stated fruits but only tinned grapefruit on offer. Fruit and natural yoghurt (no fruit ones). Bread for Toast was standard sliced bread. No hot chocolate available in drinks No other hotel competion in this area.

I loved the building! So much history! But our room wasn't the cleanest. And parking wasn't very close to our room.

Lovely staff, especially the bar staff. The two ladies were very helpful and friendly . The food was good and rooms nice and clean.

Fab hotel. Ideal for people who smoke as rooms lead to outside space with jars for cigarette stubs. Staff really friendly and let us check in early because room available. The building is really quirky. Only downside was the house white wine was really bad and they stopped serving at 12 midnight on New Years Eve

I’d describe the Garrison as ‘dated’ - the bar area needs a good bit of decorating and some new furniture. The breakfast room is the same. Rooms are in a separate annex and are clean and comfortable but again, very dated. Wouldn’t rush back

Had stayed in the hotel previously, so knew what to expect, room comfortable & warm, friendly receptionist no complaints would stay again

The only problems we had was the toilet flush not working properly. This was relayed to reception on leaving.
