Fern Grotto Inn

We stayed 6 nights in the River Cottage. We loved it. We usually stay at the resorts when traveling but truly enjoyed Fern Grotto. Unique experience. The grounds and amenties like kayaks, coolers, beach chairs, snorkeling equipment etc were very nice to have at your finger tips. The room was very clean and very well stocked. Don't overpack. Paul even had waterproof iphone cases in the room. Weather was perfect and we slept with the windows open. Which means roosters early in the morning but that's part of being on Kauai. Great location to go north, south and to find quick and good food. Highly recommend.

We wanted something smaller and more quiet than the big resorts. What a great find. Used the kayaks to go to the secret falls and beach chairs and coolers when exploring other parts of the island. A wonderful home base for our time on Kaua and location made it easy to go north, south, or west or explore the east side.

This property is situated right next to Wailua State Park and across from Wailua Beach and minutes from Lydgate Beach Park. Immaculate and well- maintained. It was noisier than I expected due to traffic and bridge construction but very cute garden where you can sit outside

I had to gulp a little at the reservation system: paid months in advance, but it turned out to be well worth it. For those who avoid big commercial places, this is the crown jewel of Kauai. It was hard to know what was available, [almost no communication from the owner] but it turns out they had kayaks at no charge... the trip up the estuary was fantastic. No commercial kayak tours are allowed on the weekends, so that made it nice. The room was clean, cool and a great bed. Fun property - would be great with a big family. It's a great location. Be sure to try the Lemongrass Grill, and Konohiki poki buffet and take-out. Fresh and delicious. Total local's place.

Wonderful property with all the toys you would want on Kaua’i. Comfortable and spotless. Free parking. The Garden Cabin had absolutely everything you could need with personal, special touches that made us welcome. And Paul, the manager was available and really helpful. A great stay on the island!

My wife and I spent a week for our honeymoon, nice little cottage for a quick getaway, close to main towns with shops and beaches. Overall had a good time.

Great location and very cute.

A Rooster crowed from midnight every 15/20 minutes 10 feet from our window all night and every night and we didn’t sleep for 3 days. I wouldn’t stay here again unless it was in the contract that all roosters on property were removed. It’s too bad that they didn’t take care of that it would’ve been a great stay.

It was amazing! The perfect place to stay! We even had the river in the backyard to kayak
