Fern Grotto Inn

We had an incredible stay at the Fern Grotto Inn. The hospitality was remarkable. Every detail was beyond welcoming. We were centrally located to everything and launched the kayaks right from the property. it was truly a unique experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the Fern Grotto Inn. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.

We love staying here. The units and property are perfect and you’re located with easy access to just about anywhere on the island. This is our second time staying here and we’ll be back again. This time we kayaked up the river and got a day pass at one of the fancy resorts. Highly recommend both.

We had not been to Kauai in many years, and after searching the internet I read about the Fern Grotto Inn. The listed amenities were very impressive, and the photos showed nice cottages nestled among tropical gardens. Upon arrival we realized that the photos did not do the Fern Grotto Inn justice. The secluded beauty of the grounds, the birds singing in the flowering trees around us, and the view of the river out our windows immediately put us in an amazing aloha spirit! The cottages and rooms are beautifully furnished with perfect attention to detail. If you want to go kayaking up the beautiful Wailua River in the morning (on one of the Inn’s provided kayaks) or explore Kauai’s other gorgeous sights, the Inn is conveniently and centrally located. At the end of the day, we always looked forward to returning to the Fern Grotto Inn and relaxing at one of the garden tables to enjoy a glass of wine in this tropical paradise. The unit we stayed in was the perfect size for the two of us. Very clean. Having the kitchen was a money saver. They provide grills, washers and dryers, beach chairs, mats, umbrellas. All of which we used during our stay. The central location on the island makes exploring both the north and south shore areas convenient. Lydgate Beach is a 5 minute drive. Airport is 5 miles away. Would highly recommend.

This was a fantastic stay on our visit to Kauai. We really appreciated the flexibility with early and late check-in—it made our stay so much easier. The chocolate snacks and music left for us were such a thoughtful touch, and we felt truly well looked after throughout our visit. Having access to snorkelling and kayaking equipment was a great bonus, as was a fridge full of bottled water and free laundry. Housekeeping were amazing and did such a fantastic job.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property, though we’d recommend offering an easier way to communicate for non-US mobile numbers.

Fern Grotto Inn was amazing. Coco D was the perfect place for my wife and I to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. The bed was extremely comfy, there was an air conditioner in the room (not always a given at some of the resorts), the room was well equipped for cooking and eating in, the grounds were meticulously cared for, we used both the bikes and kayaks, and the room had beautiful flowers adorning the room. It's a quiet place with easy access to the highway into Lihue or Kapaa and beyond. Will definitely come back.

This is our first trip to Kauai so there were lots of questions about how do we get gear for the beach and our different island activities. Fern Grotto took care of everything for us! We had all the beach equipment we wanted. We took a kayak out for a day and did the Secret Waterfall & Fern Grotto and they had all the equipment we needed. The grounds are beautiful. Plenty of shared amenities but also private outdoor areas to spread out and dry out your beach clothes. Our room was very spacious and filled with everything you need. Lots of towels and everything you could need in the kitchen. I appreciate the little details like 2 luggage racks so both of us could have a space for our belongings. Location was perfect for lots of exploring. Fern Grotto was a key part of our Kauai experience and we hope to come back again!

I've been planning this trip in my head for years. Coming from the mountains of Tennessee, I imagined the tropical beauty with lush greenery and beautiful, exotic flowers. Kauai and especially Fern Grotto Inn did not disappoint. From the entry to all the thoughtful little details in the room I was overwhelmed with joy. I loved everything about our accommodations. There were just too many things to recount here, but trust me, if you want a more authentic and yet favored guest experience choose Fern Grotto Inn. The extra amenities like bikes and kayaks are well worth it. It's also centrally located so you can easily do things in the north and south without too long of a drive. During this trip we island hopped starting in Ohau then Kauai and last Maui. In Ohau we stayed in a high rise hotel and Maui a resort. Neither of those two places are comparable in terms of cleanliness, parking, and free extra perks. I would choose Fern Grotto Inn again and again.

We had an amazing stay at the Fern Grotto Inn. Beautiful place to be one with nature. Comfortable rooms, There were lots of amenities, peaceful environment. Amazing Host. Easily accessible from the airport. Can't wait to be back with the family.
