The Redwell Inn

Friendly staff, made to feel welcome from the start and everything you would expect in the room, would definitely stay at The Redwell Inn again.

Booked for a cheaper option when attending a wedding at Runa Farm. They quickly turned our room around so we could check in early and get ready. Staff were incredibly polite and friendly. Breakfast was included with our booking which was great with wonderful service! Room had tea/coffee and a much needed fan.

The staff were very attentive and had a great sense of humour. Evening meal exceeded expectations and breakfast was hot tasty and locally sourced. Will definitely be revisiting.

For the price it needs a huge update

Staff, food and room were great. Friendly place, enjoyable stay.

The Redwell Inn sits a short drive or a 15 minute walk away from the town centre and although the kitchen was closed for our visit the bedrooms were in use. The bedroom was adequete, nothing special and perhaps in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were very soft, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good. A good range of eateries are available a short walk away in the town of Barnard Castle.

Arrived to find notes on both doors saying the establishment was closed due to refurbishment was not a good start. Telephoned the establishment to be told they were honouring overnight guests. Side door was duly unlocked and we were led to reception where we were told the floor in the kitchen was being replaced so there would be no breakfast which was included in our room rate. I asked why we had not been told and the response was that it was an emergency. So what should we do for breakfast I asked and was told a 15 minute walk into town would leave us with some alternative options. Gareth, the staff dealing with check in, was going through this routine with other people checking in after us. Hotels.com responded well and rectified the situation however we felt the establishment should have been more reactive. The room was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were not the best I’ve slept on but not terrible however bed linen and towels were good. For the evening meal we walked into town and had a great meal at the Three Horseshoes and breakfast was booked for there. The Red Well Inn is not on our list for future stays.

The kitchen, restaurant and bar were not open for the date of our visit so no review of food or the public areas can be given. The accommodation however was made available. This of course meant that breakfast could not be reviewed as it was also not available. The closure was temporary but did impact our visit somewhat. My review feeling is that we should have been informed in advance as the closure was planned. The bedroom was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. We would normally have eaten at the place we were staying in but other good eateries are available in Barnard Castle
