Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa

5 nights in a filthy/grimy oceanfront villa. I did not expect it to be brand new but, at $1,000+ per night, disgusting walls (food, dirt, etc.) throughout the unit, heavily stained furniture, and an unusable balcony (the door handle fell off in my hand) are completely unacceptable. The AC spelled awful (mold) and was covered in inches of dust. The pool area and beach are quite nice but the poor condition of the unit was incredibly disappointing. I did complain and make an effort to be moved but could not be accommodated.

BLACK MOLD all over the bathrooms. Overall room was very dirty. They allowed another guest to check into my room while I was already staying there.

*Black Mold all over the bathroom!!! The room smells like mold. The room overall just feels dirty. The toilet doesn't flush every other time you try to use it. The shower leaks onto the main bathroom floor. The key card to get into the room doesn't always work. Terrible experience overall. This hotel may have been a nice hotel 30 years ago. But today it's no better than an old dirty motel. Also, if there are no pictures attached to this review it's because the hotel is removing them. They also let another guest check into my room while I was still staying there. My belongings could have been stolen while I was not there. Also, my son woke up with a bloody nose last night, which turns out can be caused by black mold. Which makes sense.

We were really disappointed with our stay. We know you can't control the weather, but we were surprised by the lack of effort to offer some kid friendly activities with 4 straight days of rain. (Bingo, movie, dance party, crafts, coloring in a ball room/conference room are just a few ideas) Other issues we encountered: 1) one of our rooms' shower looked like it was never cleaned. The same 2 pieces of hair were stuck on the tile when we arrived and left. Lots of mold too. (See attached pictures) 2) I had 4 girls with me aged 9-12. 3 of the 4 are competitive gymnasts. One morning my husband took them to the gym with him to work out (since we were all going stir crazy from the 3rd straight day of rain!) They were rudely informed at the desk that the girls were not allowed to and would have to sit and watch my husband work out. Back on the shuttle they went - another wasted morning. 3) we went to the indoor pool yesterday - several leaks in the ceiling, along with lots of dead lizards/geckos. We tried to get lunch afterwards, but pretty much every restaurant was closed. Huh? 🤔 Why wouldn't you open knowing people needed to eat lunch and pass the time since it was raining? Ended up having to wait 2 hours for a table at Surfcaster. One food runner spilled a plate of chips on my husband and all over the floor and mumbled "I'll come back to clean that up" but never did. In fact, no one did. Then after waiting 35 mins for our cocktails and kids daiquiris, we were told the beverage ticket blew away and glasses broke, so that's why there was a long wait. 4) the refrigerator in our room was broken. Everything in it spoiled. 5) the toilet in my daughters' room only occasionally flushed. 6) lots of maintenance needed in our "hallway" in the hotel. The "Exit" sign was broken and hanging my a thread. There were old beverage glasses (not ours!) sitting outside our room for 2 days. A champagne flute fell over and broke outside of another room. Used qtips scattered by the elevator. One elevator button was broken

Friendly staff but woefully understaffed. Room wasn’t available at check in time. Had to call for room turndown when it hadn’t been done by 4 pm. Hardworking staff were trying their best but service was very slow due to staffing ratios. Valet was slow. Waitstaff at the pool very spotty. Internet was working maybe 50% of the time. A beautiful location but dated property and rooms. Overall a low average experience for a high price point.

The weather was bad which is not at the fault of the property so not the reason for my complaints AND early departure. The accommodations were less than satisfactory. First we were offered a first floor room off the pool. Lots of foot traffic, kids, noise. I asked for another option and we were put on the furthest part of building 2. Our oceanfront view turned into a partial view and half of it was a mound. It was also an adjoining room with a family with kids. Lots of noise. We booked this room in January for our wedding anniversary and I felt we were treated like we just walked in off the street asking for any spare rooms. We tried to stick it out but were awaken early by screaming kids so tried to move once again. Once again, jumping through hoops. We were transferred 4 times and given the run around. Then when we decided to leave early, I couldn’t get through to the front desk manager. I ended up having to text to reach someone after calling and being put on hold 3 times. I understand the hotel was fully booked but I wonder how we, an African American couple, ended up with subpar accommodations and others didn’t. We were supposed to stay 3 nights and left after 1 with absolutely no plans to return. What an awful expensive, unnecessary experience for our wedding anniversary.

Very accommodating and beautiful property.

Just a suggestion- maybe more towel hooks in the bathroom. For a family of four we had to get creative.

Our family had a great experience at this resort. We enjoyed looking for shark teeth, participating in resort activities (especially the beach party!), and exploring the grounds. The food, especially the poolside restaurant, was exceptional!

The Omni Amelia Island Resort is a gorgeous property with fantastic amenities. We've visited twice and look forward to returning in the future!

The Omni at Amelia Island was wonderful. Excellent food, friendly staff and great service. The pools were excellent and great beach access.
