Ao Nang Timber House

Overall, the hotel struck me as more of a motel, with the rooms in a curve around the carpark, next to the main road. It's also rather misnamed - other than a small amount of cladding outside the room, its concrete instead of timber (the 'restaurant' being a plastic covered canopy thing). Breakfast was served in the restaurant, and was the worst I've had in Thailand - my scrambled eggs were served on a saucer; the toast I had to put on a different saucer; there was no bacon or sausages or other hot food. No fruit. Its possible I caught them on a bad day (though the hotel was almost empty so being too busy can't have been an issue) but I didn't try it on subsequent days to find out. Use of the in-room safe was an extra 50baht a day. Some of the other reviews mention mosquitoes in the room - I can confirm they were ever present. Location wasn't bad, on the curve between the two beaches, but wasn't across from the beach, nor near the main nightlife either, which was disappointing to me. Still within walking distance though. Positives: The room was a fairly standard white wall+tile floor affair, and a decent size, even with a separate desk/dressing area. It was clean and well maintained; Bed was comfortable. When I had a problem with hot water and I asked reception they did actually fix it in a few hours (in Thailand, this is far from the norm in my experience).

This was a comfortable hotel in a good location. Easy walking to everything thing. Great pool. Nice rooms. Bed was a little hard, and the AC was slightly drippy. But the room was clean, the bathroom was nice. There was an in room safe. The food was edible. Good deal for the price.

Everything was great with this hotel. Rooms were huge we had one by the pool. the service was the best we had in the entire time we were in Thailand and the pool was so inviting we even spent a day around that instead of hitting the beach. minibar was reasonably priced. they even supply towels for the bathroom and green ones to use at pool / beach. as you can tell I was well impressed with this hotel and would recomend it to anyone.

We stayed here for three night and been upgraded to deluxe room at first night. Room are spacious and comfort. We found it convenient to get food or massage here. It very near to beach and not bad environment here. Service were just so so but acceptable.

a great place right in a great area..the evening buffet was as good as i have had anywhere and at a great price less then $15 us i would go back any time...

The hotel has good customer service, great spacious room and good location to the beach. The only downside is no free WiFi in the rooms and while there is WiFi at the cafe, it does not work (during the duration of my stay anyway!!Overall, a recommnded place to stay!

The room overall is nice, staff there is very friendly and helpful. But wireless should be provided since it is considered as a basic facility in hotel. This can maintain also the competition among hotels. And lastly, the shower in the bathroom is not realy in a good condition, is realy hard to control the temperature of the water. Proper action should be taken to fix the shower.

It's clean and in good location. However, its double bed are made out of 2 single beds and hence not suitable for couples.It's also not comfortable because the 2 single beds slided. It has only basic facility and the room rates charged didn't give us "good value for our money".

The hotel is lovely, right off the beach but far enough back to not hear the beach noise (boats, music, people, etc.). The pools are great, although the bigger pool was often cloudy - perhaps too many chemicals? We stayed for a week and slept a lot, swam a lot, explored a lot, and always felt like we were coming "home" when we returned to our room. We would have liked the room to be cleaned a little more thoroughly, but we always had clean towels (they smelled heavenly!) and new condiments. One thing to keep in mind - if you're hungry, be prepared to get more so - the service was quite slow. But the food was good, so sometimes it was worth the wait.
