The Mayfair Hotel

The location was really great. Everything was close and public transport was easily accessible, which made travelling around very convenient

What I didn’t like was the overall quality of the hotel. There was a smell of dampness and old furniture in the air. There were carpets everywhere, which made the hotel feel old and not very fresh. The room was quite disappointing and definitely did not meet my expectations. There was only one hairdryer and one iron available at the reception for all guests. Getting to the room was also inconvenient because of the long, narrow corridors that felt like a maze. Overall, I was disappointed, especially considering the high price for these conditions.

The staff were amazing. They were helpful and friendly. The room was massive and spotless.

the room was massive. they have a walk in wardrobe, the toilet had a bath , the room was spottless with a desk and night table. Big window and the staff were helpfull and kind.

the lift was not working. However, the stairs were easy to get into the room. i would add a switch for the main light n3xt to the bed. there were two switches for the bed lights.

Good location right next to a bus stop serving central Bournemouth and other locations outside of town. Decent bathroom with a good hot water supply once you know how to get the hot water going.

A bit dated, could do with a refresh. Bedroom wasn't laid out in a way that made light switches and plug sockets easily accessible. Room wasn't air conditioned but did have an opening window but that wasn't very effective so I requested a fan to help with cooling the room which helped. Was woken up early hours of the morning by a highly intoxicated resident who collapsed against the bedroom door very hard and threw up in the hallway. Wouldn't recommend this hotel for lone travellers sadly as the doors cannot be secured from inside the room and also because of the above incident.

It was cheap and close to town

It’s really loud, you can hear everything going on outside and inside the property. Everything is old and outdated. Someone was hoovering outside my door at 8:30am. The milk they give you for your hot drinks was gone off.

This hotel was disappointing. It was extremely noisy with people shouting and stomping down the corridors all the time. There was a damaged ceiling tile in my bathroom that made me feel weary, i was told it would be fixed and they never came. The room got ridiculously stuffy and there was no aircon or heating panel. There was no hot water at all from the bath/shower or sink taps, barely a passable temperature to have a quick wash. And every time i used the tap in the sink my partner had to come turn it off for how stiff it was. The bed was uncomfortable and barely fit me and my partner in the 'deluxe double' and i am only small and they only provided one pillow. The television was also tiny and placed miles away from the bed and they gave no remote making it unusable. There was no double lock on the inside of the door making us feel very uneasy too. The listing for the hotel says there is a bar ect but this was closed for the entire duration of our stay, never opened once, so if you wanted food/snacks or drinks you'll have to leave the hotel and go down the road every time. Overall this hotel was nothing like what was advertised and we feel quite disappointed.

This is a budget hotel so no high standards are expected, but the state of the rooms is more than terrible. Hotel being outdated is fine, but having tons of hair in the bath tub, bathroom floor, plus carpet full of filth and red wine spills over the place is rather digusting and unacceptable as this is a cleaning issue and can be sorted easily.
