"Resort doesn't even deserve 1 star!!"

2.0

Recently stayed at this resort with a very large group of friends and family from Canada. The food was our biggest issue, It was disgusting. no variety, no taste, and the same day after day! We ate dinner every night off the resort as the food was that bad. Several people in our group became sick from the food. One of our friend vomited and could not make it to the bathroom so he vomited in the bed. he was charged over $100 dollars because they claim they threw out the bedding. concierge ( Alesandro ) was unhelpful, rude and keep contradicting himself. Had it not been for the group we were with the vacation would have been terrible.

There was a group of us 10 adults that stayed at this hotel in March Pros Nice smaller hotel No towel cards needed and not chasing down chairs Workers are all amazing and hard working in the restaurants Rooms were great and comfy king beds , clean We had a great time with Victor and Enrique in buffet restaurant Oxxo literally across the street which my kids visited every day The La comer and city markets close by and great to wander around in Cons Only water supplied in room fridge Asked for change at front desk - English wasn’t the best because one said no then other said yes - wanted to change a 200 pesos for 20s was able to finally We got sick of the food but you’re not going to starve. A lot recycled into dishes - limited on gluten free options - some placards showed gf but very minimal - with having only one hour cart and one buffet it limits your options one night I was literally just having salad, but my family enjoyed the pasta. We only had the à la carte one evening, which was decent. Martin was fabulous. He sits at the gray lines desk and he helped me with my Nexus Tours to get picked up from the hotel to go to the airport. We booked the 10 of us to take a tour from the hotel to the Marina on the boat just to travel around to the archand the beaches and we could’ve got off to explore the beach, but we did not. We just did the boat tour and came back to Marina for lunch and four of the kids. Did the ATV side-by-side Tours which they had an absolute blast. Martin was so amazing. I highly recommend you talk him. He’s so eager to help and make your stay pleasant. They had some karaoke and shows in the evenings which we saw a little bit and heard, but it doesn’t go very late so it’s not that bad I would definitely return here. I just hope that with the limited food options that possibly there could be an improvement.

"Save your money and stay elsewhere"

2.0

This hotel is by far one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed at and I will never stop talking about how awful this place is to anyone who will listen. Our party spent 3 nights here for a bachelorette and all 9 of us were underwhelmed at best. I do not understand how this place is in business but the business model must include making everything (food and drinks) completely inedible with all coffee machines conveniently ‘turned off’ or ‘broken’ so that no one eats or drinks anything. To start off, the amenities listed on their website is complete false advertising. They list that they have yoga, pilates, and water activities but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The ‘yoga’ is some light stretching, the water activities include a kayak race in the pool and there is no Pilates whatsoever. You can’t even go into the ocean due to the current and waves. The ‘disco’ comprises of a run down room in the basement with uncomfortable seating and bad vibes but at least this is the only amenity on the website that was not false advertisement since it looked pretty dreadful online. The food was all terrible and I personally question the palate of every single person who left a positive review on the food. It is a skill to have every single food item taste as bland, awful and as stale as it was. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet all tasted the same and if you think you’ll get anything better at the hotel’s Luna Restaurant, think again. All food was served at room temperature and everything was under seasoned. Nothing looked edible and to make matters worse, you may find guests dipping their fingers in the food before serving themselves. It’s a surreal feeling circling the buffet empty plate in hand feeling equally hungry and disgusted at the same time. The only redeemable quality of this resort were some of the service staff but note that some seemed very inconvenienced if you asked them for anything. The staff overlooking the pool activities were very nice and everyone (staff and guests included) looked to be making the best with what they had. My friend did get a massage ant the hotel and enjoyed it. The rooms were very basic and the bathroom door doubling as the shower door was as an interesting choice in design. Our room had a slight ocean view if you bent over the balcony to look out. The balcony door did not lock but I appreciated the hotel safe that was very easy to use. As our parting gift, we woke up to a dead cockroach on our bathroom floor. On a positive note, I thank you for the countless laughs and funny stories we now hold on how terrible everything was that our group will cherish for years to come. For anyone reading this, please do yourself a favor and skip staying at Grand Decameron Los Cabos all together. Our party wishes we read these reviews before booking our trip. I will never reconsider staying at this property or any others tied to this chain in my lifetime. This hotel is not wheelchair/stroller friendly. This is also the only review I’ve ever written but I feel a moral obligation in warning others about this place. Keep your expectations very low if you visit.

"Better Options Out There"

2.0

This is definitely a 3 star resort. It's in desperate need of a renovation; however, it is clean. Here's what we experience on our 10 day vacation at this resort. - Lack of water or any drinks / snacks in the room. Your guests shouldn't have to ask. It should be supplied. If they clean your room, you might get a bottle of water. - The food is not the best. If you're a foodie, this is not the place for you. The same food is served daily in the buffet, and they serve leftovers from the day before. The one and only restaurant has limited seating and a limited menu. Lunch is the same every single day. This makes mealtime so boring, and it really isn’t that good. - The bars. What bars? They’re hardly open. It’s like they limit the bars, so guests don’t drink too much. How do you not have rum at the pool bar? No wine? No ice? The other day there was no beer. This is definitely an issue. - Speaking of bars. You have opening times posted but the bartender is never on time. Plus, you have one bartender working on a busy day at the pool. The line ups are long and frustrating. The drinks are not that great and to be honest, I’d bring your own booze. - Lack of staff. You need to hire more people. The staff is old and slow with very few young workers. Service reflects this age issue. - The music at the pool is so LOUD. Learn your audience, play music that appeals to all ages. It's so loud you have to yell to speak. In addition, they play the same music over and over again every single day. I heard YMCA at least 3 times a day, every day. - Pools. They’re clean mostly and in fairly good shape, however, there is no pool bar service, and you can’t eat food by the pool. No outside music either. Loungers are comfortable but you have to be up by 6 am to secure a spot. - Activities are geared for an older crowd. There’s bingo night, singers and dancers nights and karaoke nights. Mediocre entertainment. - House Keeping. They show up between 3-5 pm. Why would that be acceptable? The rooms should be serviced well before that time. Guests are coming back from the pool/beach to relax and get ready for the night. Over our 10 night stay, we only had our room serviced 5 times. This resort does some weird things to make guests not feel comfortable. They decided to clean one side of the pool patio, so they closed the main pool, removed all the loungers and began cleaning at 8 am and didn’t finish until after 11 am (there was no issue with the patio but a bit of dirt). This meant all the guests had to hang around waiting to use the pool. Who does that in the middle of the day? Do that at 7 am. Oh, and the pools don’t open until 9 am, and the adult pool opens at 10 am (sometimes 11 am). All in all, this resort is okay for a cheap vacation and if you're expectations are low. It’s not a high end resort and the service is not there but you can make do.

"Great time, watch out for the airport scams"

10.0

We had an amazing stay. The staff was amazing, the food excellent and it was a nice calm vibe for families. The night entertainment was fun and St Patricks day was a blast. The food for dinner was amazing and very easy to book. We went off site for lunches by choice and it was amazing. Very safe and the food was the best we have ever had. Make sure to visit Grandmas, Los Tacos Locos and El Pulpo to eat. It would be nice if guests were told ahead of time to not trust the people at the airport. We were scammed out of 400 USD for an excursion where no one came to pick us up, police were there and did not care. We also had one run in with UBER. They said they picked us up and they did not. Visa took care of the cost, but just a warning. We would get the hotel to get us a taxi and then ask local to book an UBER for us and we were fine. As well, the only reason we knew about not swimming in the ocean was because of other guests. Very important to tell guests at check in.

"Budget Hotel - All-Inclusive is a Stretch"

4.0

We thought we had found a fantastic deal for 10 days at an all-inclusive resort. Turns out, you get what you pay for. Start with the pros. Sunny, warm setting. Pools are clean and lounge chairs not particularly hard to come by. Nice looking beach. The resort is kept quite clean. Most of the staff are friendly. Room air conditioning worked fine. Rain showers are spacious. Tipping has little to no effect, so you save a few more bucks. There is a supermarket and mall right across the road if/when you need anything. Karaoke night was fun. Stretching classes (yoga-ish) with Johanna and Alondra in the mornings were nice. Nothing went particularly wrong, and we had a nice stay. But there are cons. Rooms: Very small and plain (think Super 8). Decor is dated. Room fridge comes stocked with a whole 2 bottles of water. Toilets warn not to flush toilet paper and indeed back up remarkably easily (they were quick to show up and unclog). Food: There is little variety to the buffet and it is almost all lukewarm, bland and uninspired (eg 'italian sausages' consist of a tray of hot dog wieners, there is a wide selection of dry, plain buns, but butter came out only sometimes and only at lunch, most meat is either heavily breaded or floating in a bland sauce, breakfast consists of an assortment of plain pancakes or french toast, soups were all tepid, the deserts all remarkably tasted the same). People were buying and bringing in their own hot sauce at a Mexican buffet! The omelet station is popular mainly because it is the ONLY thing not served lukewarm. Other than the buffet, there is ONE a la carte restaurant which is hard to reserve through the hotel's terrible app. We had 3 lunches and 3 dinners there - of the 6, one of the lunch selections (which don't change) and one of the dinners (which do) were actually pretty good. Most appeared to be plated selections from the buffet. Drink: Aside from a few hours in the late afternoon/early evening, only 1 of the 4 bars is open from 9 to 10 and the bartenders often wander away. Selection is pretty rudimentary. Beer choices are dark or light "Especial" brand and they were usually out of dark, sometimes served on ice instead of being cold. Wine selection: red, white, sometimes rose or sparkling - no selection beyond that - sometimes its a merlot, sometimes a cab, who knows? Liquor selection: premixed, weak and tasteless 'cocktails'. They have bottles of no name liquors on display which they will splash into a glass of crushed ice with syrup if you ask for a cocktail they haven't pre-made. Their 'feature drink', a mango margarita, is only available until they run out of mango at about noon every single day. Juice selection is flavorless runny orange, runny yellow, and thicker green. I ended up buying my own Bailey's for coffee, and my own OJ and bubbly for mimosas in the morning. Service: Buffet tables are rarely set or wiped down between guests and the waiters seem to consistently prioritize refilling coffees over providing a first coffee or cutlery to newcomers. Bartenders are, for the most part, surly although don't take it personally - it's with everyone, even the locals. Front desk and security are polite enough but indifferent. Entertainment: The performers are earnest and I've been to enough Mexican resorts to expect a certain amount of hokey. But the couple of dancers on the dance night were overly enthusiastic amateurs, and the singers didn't perform their karaoke nearly as well as the guests. About half the rooms surround the stage, so our friends had to endure all of the shows, which were mercifully short. The "disco" is a basement room with poor air conditioning which has a small bar and pipes in what I think is the audio from the music video show that is on the TV in the lobby. All told, if you want to save money and relax in a beach lounger in the sun by a pool and little more (which is mostly what we wanted), this little resort is the place for you. But plan on eating and drinking at some of the nearby chain restaurants or going into town if you want flavor, variety, or service.
