Palazzo Fani Mignanelli

Nice large room with wood beam ceiling, couch and 4-post bed. Perfect location.

My son and I had two rooms that I reserved at the Palazzo Fani Magnanelli in July, 2015. The weather was almost unbearably hot, with temperatures ranging from 37 to 39 degrees C. during the days we were there. The rooms we had were poorly air conditioned. When we complained, the person on duty just shrugged. The air conditioning would turn off after running for about 15 minutes and never fully cooling the rooms. It was impossible to sleep. There were many other problems. The entrance to the hotel smells like a sewer and the hotel attempts to mask this during the day by spreading fresh flowers around. The sheets in the rooms were dirty. The rooms themselves were small. The continental breakfast was quite basic and served by a scowling old woman. The hotel's main and perhaps only advantage was its location, which is on the main street very close to the historic centre of Siena. According to the list of room prices posted, the regular room price is 200 euros. No-one should ever pay even half of that for a hotel of this quality. I will warn friends against using this hotel if they ever visit Siena in future.

Our only regret is that we stayed just one night in Siena. The city is magnificent, and the B&B is a perfect place to experience it from. The front door is just steps from Piazza del Campo, right along the main drag behind the top of its outer rim. From our window we witnessed the victors of the Palio di Siena horse race thumping their drums (and their chests) most of the evening as they marched through the streets celebrating their win. The staff was quite friendly and they provided a nice breakfast for us. I highly recommend this and hope to stay here again.

Wow, what a gem of a place! Excellent location on the main pedestrianised streets although the hotel is really hard to find. You needs your wits about you to locate it. However, the property which is in an old palazzio is wonderful with very large rooms & good bathrooms & makes a great change from the usual hotel layout.Staff at reception were hugely helpful & made every effort to make sure we didn't need anything. Forget the complimentary breakfast; its useless. Go outside and eat at one of the many eateries within a few minutes of the hotel.

Location, location, location!! Meters from the piazza and many good eateries. I stayed there 5 nights and did a couple of day trips out of Siena. A great base to explore the area. Good breakfast and good staff .

Very old palazzo, in the heart of the top shopping street in Siena 2 minutes from the Piazza del Campo. Furniture was old not antique except for the luxury shower. Wifi nonexistent in our room, which was rather frustrating. Breakfast decent. The Sicilian receptionist and the housekeeper were very courteous.

Location good close to Duomo and square II Campo. About 10 minutes’ walk from intercity bus station. Rooms clean, sheets and bed comfort, but the sink with no stopper could see some gross stuff there. Staff spoke limited English. Breakfast offers cold cut meat, cheese, bread. Follow the street number 15, and you would not miss the entrance with florist shop on the ground floor. WiFi did not work. The clerk might trick you into paying two person’s city tax (2.50 euro/person) at check out if you are only one person. Be careful. The lift reaches 3rd floor landing and you come down about six steps to really reach the floor.

Thank goodness we read the reviews, it could be hard to find, walk through the flower stall (not open when we arrived),through a door and take a lift to 3rd floor. Still lots of stairs to get to our room. Perfect location, everything handy, had to walk in rain to the bus when leaving, but no big problem. Room clean, steps down to bathroom, not too noisy when window closed (air-con),earplugs provided if needed. Breakfast basic but adequate, didn't understand tea is made with boiling water, not lukewarm, cappuccino fair. Staff friendly and helpful.

Adequate hotel for our short stay in Siena. Unusual entrance, through and a walk pass a florist shop on your right. through to an alley/court yard where a lift awaits to take you to the 3rd floor. Appears to be very few rooms, small reception. They issue you with a remote to open the main door into reception from after 8pm. We came home the 2nd night (around midnight) and guess what it didn't work!! Stuck outside the door, had to press all buttons until someone spoke to us, but we did get in. Very noisy bar on the corner just passed hotel and the singing and chatting went on till about 3am. ( May have been busier this night because a football match that was won by an Italian side on this evening) Night before was ok just a little bit of chatting to be heard. Breakfast was adequate, not a fantastic choice but enough for breakfast. Room was lovely, furnishings, linen all very clean and a comfortable bed, shower, no bath only in the bathroom but all very clean and usable. This hotel is in a very good position just behind Piazza del Campo, and along the main shopping street. Also the Bus station is about 5 minute walk away. I would come and use this hotel again if ever visiting Siena.
